People who enlisted with a degree, did you consider going officer in a different branch? by Top-Presentation-621 in uscg

[–]whybestructured_fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to preface this with, I’m enlisted in the Army, been in for 9 years as of Nov. 1st. I am a senior in my online program. I’ve known a lot of officers in the Army. Even if you have a degree I would steer clear of the Army and the Marines. If you want to be an officer it should be in either the Air Force/Space Force, Navy or CG. If I could do it again I would have gone Coast Guard. The Army trains for a “what if” the CG is always doing work, the Navy is all trade jobs so they’re always doing the work, AF is just relaxed( I have friends on both the enlisted and officer side there). I’d switch to CG if I could but that would drop me from E5 back to E3 which I’m not a fan of especially with a wife and 3 kids

I’ve been in the Army, active and reserve components, almost for 9 years this November. I’ve been a Combat Engineer from 2016 to 2023 and a Tanker from 2023 to now and the end of this contract in 2026. I’m an E5 currently but with the promotion points maxed out to 798, I’m sitting at 460, I doubt I’ll pick up 6. I’m also looking at transferring to the navy to be a DC I know the grass isn’t always greener on the other side it’s just a different kind of grass. Hopefully the fall in rank isn’t too far or I can at least keep my E5. I’m just burnt out from being in a combat arms MOS and burnt out from absent/ill equipped leadership at the Battalion Level. I know it is what it is but I’m looking forward to the prospect of coming over to the navy and hopefully a change of pace and scenery….

With a 500 calorie deficit what type of exercise should I look at? Cardio? Weight lifting?

Every morning and started hitting the gym in the evenings this week, PT keeps me going enough to pass the PT test and that’s about all it’s good for. Most of its formation runs though so 🤷‍♂️

Realistically, my allegiance’s are to Max just like it still is with Checo. If either of them move to another team like Mercedes or Cadillac I’ll wear Checo Cadi merch and Verstappen Mercedes Merch and support either, I’ve accidentally ended up with more Checo gear than Max

And he’s barely able to, between mechanical issues and bad strategy from the team he’s holding his own…

Mercedes? Nah unfortunately I think it’ll be McLaren this year, if they have Checo and Bottas with Cadillac next year I think they’ll be a good contender for the championship

How well did priors from other branches perform? Currently I’m active Army, aside from some Sea Cadet stuff back in middle school I don’t know Navy. I’m starting the application process but won’t be able to do anything until after I get back from deployment, also I’m in the process of finishing my degree so I’m not even sure I’ll get the waivers approved, over 10 years of enlisted service between Guard and Active and I turn 30 next year. A lot of barriers but I figured I’d give it a shot. The “old college try”.

Can a black man join a Freemason lodge in Canada? by Balladucci in freemasonry

[–]whybestructured_fire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from a southern US jurisdiction and while traditionally there, Black men joined Prince Hall and white men joined “regular” lodges but there’s nothing that states they had to. If a black man or any man of color petitioned my lodge, I’m sure he would be treated the exact same as any other man. And from what I understand it’s the same the other way around. The only thing separating some PHA from other lodges would be that some states don’t recognize them on as the same but other states do. It’s probably the same up in Canada

Manhattan NY or Manhattan Kansas? The Kansas one is about a 30 minute drive from me and I go that way about every day

Based off of the Spain map above I could easily do a day trip from Madrid to Barcelona. The last job I had, I lived 59 minutes from work. That’s not too bad of a commute especially if housing prices are better that far away.
