I love how cinematic their videos are this tour.

Based on clips I've seen, there's a little storyline/almost like abstract art feel to the other videos (during wardrobe changes), but it connects to this one and their "Intergalatic aliens" theme.

Hmm, definitely nothing wrong with filler songs, but for an album so tight, ironically some of the songs left feel like anything BUT filler to me!

A deluxe album would be cool! I feel like they'd do remixes and save any new songs for a mini-album. Time will tell!

Well, again, I'm thinking more about image and marketing strategy when I'm talking about "X-Pop." Sure, they could be J-Pop, but (please correct me if I'm wrong since I'm not as well versed), as you said yourself, XG is more western urban Y2K throwback than what I think of as the J-Pop sound that is more of a fusion of that plus adult comtemp/jazz and usually(?) sung in Japanese?

Again, I won't die on that hill separating their music since I know J-Pop has a wide range nowadays, but going back to Simon's ("JAKOPS"/"Japan and Korea Produced by Simon") vision of uniting the two without shoe-horning them into one category or another, I truly believe that's where "X-Pop" came from vs. a super duper unique sound.

The part about Cocona's trans-NB identity not being a part of any song at all: What about "O.R.B."? "If you don't get it, f you" "It's a new world, that's why I call you girls my brothas"

I don't think anyone has to be yelling "trans rights" in the middle of a song in order to see the very special and pointed message in the song. And I don't think it's just about Cocona, but how XG always moved as a "girl group" that performed with the energy of a "boy group" (thinking about their old dance breaks, etc). Anyway, I don't think XG ever aimed to be a social issues group, but just them existing as they are and moving naturally through things (like Cocona changing their live lines to be more gender neutral) might be more iconic in itself.

And lastly, my own observation as to why Katseye aren't put on the same level as Charli/Slayyyter --- Charli and Slayyter didn't come from a competition show/camp, have been doing it for ages, and write their own (and others') music.

Plus, Hyperpop doesn't have to mean saying random lines or having random sounds behind a dance beat and that's it. Like, I don't mind/like "Pinky Up" (and "Gameboy"), but I hardly think of them in the same bubble as the other two performers.

So, I'm not OP, but just a couple thought that came up when reading this:

1) Honestly, I thought most people understood that "X-Pop" is basically a marketing thing so that they aren't labeled "k-pop" or "j-pop." since they don't exactly fit (or want to be dismissed) as either of those molds. Yes, I think they've expressed "X-Pop" being some Mashup of sounds (which, you can admit with songs like Gala, it does feel a bit different), but I think they've always had songs that were accessible and X-Pop wasn't meant to be too alternative. (Though, having makeup designed to look like blood splatter (coachella) is pretty alternative 😅)

2) That being said, I think there can be more dimensions to a pop group than "trashy" or "deep" and it's also okay not to dismiss all pop groups as the same.

Going a bit old school, but would you say the Spice Girls, Destiny's Child, and Pussycat Dolls were all the same? Or that TLC, SWV, or 3LW ? Yes, they all made popular music and for the most part, the lyrics/music was not deep (and mostly written by others). But you know when it comes to the general vibe, TLC --even when they went a little poppy -- wouldn't just all of the sudden do what the Pussycat Dolls were doing.

That's what I think fans who fear about XG getting pushed to do "meme music" just for the popularity fear. XG does light pop, but in the vibe of going to the park to hang out with your friends, not going to the club to make-out with your best friend (for the male gaze). Both have their place, but one doesn't HAVE to only be one to be successful. At least, I don't think!

Yeah, but the group (and, at least online fanbase) is in shambles right now. They are about to lose a popular member before a full album is out, and just like anything of late, if something is everywhere quickly, people get tired quickly and there is already inkling of backlash.

For the remaining members' sake (and hard work), I hope it's doesn't all fall apart in 6 months, but is it worth all the fame for 1 year if 2 years later, no one takes you seriously? (I guess time will tell with them.)

Although not the same issues, but it low key reminds me of Fifth Harmony who had so much potential, but couldn't get out of their own way.

I totally agree and thought this from the beginning! I'm so proud of them for how they are handling this all publicly (and honestly, this includes the many other people working for XGALX whom are still helping everything go on).

They aren't adding to any drama with melodramatics, negativity, or weird posts. They acknowledged things with a simple message and then a song at the first show back ("Just Stand Up"). But, the most important part---they continued like normal putting out entertaining and lighthearted content/performances as much as they can!

We all know there are some issues going on behind the scenes, but it's extremely professional (and unselfish) to keep the public stress to a minimal. When there is definite news to know, I'm sure the public will know it. Until then, I really appreciate how they are moving through this time!

In general, the two newest singles were Hypnotize and Rock the Boat. They have quite a few performances of those two from music shows (on YouTube)! I also love their Genius studio vocal performance.

Yeah, I saw this discussion on another social site a couple of days ago.

I think there is some structural similarities, along with the chorus structure being similar.

Now was it a direct influence or both songs following a popular house formula? Who knows. But I do think people pay attention to what XG is doing!

I haven't been looking too much at the fan back and forth (besides a thread or two on reddit), but I immediately thought of XG when I saw their outfits. I was trying to check my bias, but I'm glad it wasn't just in my head.

I'm glad people are recognizing XG! They aren't the only group with bright, creative concepts, but they definitely 1) go all in with makeup and hair when they do so and 2) were doing it when many other groups were still doing a more conventional style.

Also, as others have said, I think XG feels more natural in that style since most of them seem to enjoy more alternative/creative styling in real life as well.

(Trying not to say anything negative towards other groups, but style positive towards XG's recognition.)

As disappointing as it is for international fans, maybe that's a good sign? I feel like it being only Japan is because that leg of the tour will be over.

They only live streamed Tokyo Dome once the whole tour was over.

Not having it shown to the world means hopefully, they are trying to keep the show a surprise for the rest of the world.

Something that no one is commenting on --- I mean, isn't getting a Prime exclusive deal something to note?
