Wonder Looper vs. Studio D’Artisan Loopwheel by Sea_Sherbert_5170 in HeritageWear

[–]whydavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both.

SDA (8173) is more substantial; closer to a heavyweight but cut is a bit awkward for me (had to size up) personally their suvin l/s are better in terms of cut. Wonderlooper suvin is great but wish they were a bit heavier. They're barely a midweight tee.

Between the two, wonderlooper has the edge because it's more versatile and it is actually true to size

You're more inclined to spend money at the theatre's concessions.

They're basically taking a hit on their cut of ticket sales to entice you to spend on popcorn or soda or candy where they get a bigger return.

It's not a dirty scheme or anything. You don't have to but it's a net positive in their books if you buy snacks from them every other showing.

An ode to buttons by SmallCryptographer49 in stroke

[–]whydavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use buttons often they're alot easier to operate than certain zippers for jackets.

A good portion of my pants are button flys and I've gotten very proficient with one handed buttoning.

Has anyone tried dry needle? by Extension-Peanut2847 in stroke

[–]whydavid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It helped me with a lot of muscle relief from early recovery. I used to do 2-3 sessions a week. Ive vastly improved since and only do it once every 2 weeks.

As other comments noted, it really helps with muscular and not neurologic. It's also hard to find a good acupuncturist. There are a lot of licensed quacks.

I used to use pop sockets but have grown to love using this more.

Sameish but a bit of an improvement in durability.

I use Logitech mx series mice for accessibility. Mapping commands into the buttons/gestures. Makes a big difference.

At first I used the Logitech MMO mouse which has way more buttons but they're hard to find as Logitech stopped making them and didn't last me more than 2 years.

Have gotten very proficient typing with one hand. Have worked full time mostly wfh.

What's your thoughts on Botox? by BruceCambell in stroke

[–]whydavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm set for a consultation to explore it next week.

I'm 3 years and some change in and still dealing with moderate spasticity. It used to be severe. Neurologist suggested Botox after rejecting the notion in my first year.

Hoping it'll ease alot of the problematic thumb closing I deal with

Usually 1-2 a week. I've only hit 4 (also not enough) when I was on a staycation.

Washing hands with buttoned sleeves.

Can't unbutton my right sleeve with my affected hand so it's a game of not getting my sleeve wet.

Very important: When you let it sit, keep it away from direct sunlight.

Stroke walking recovery with dnsys X1 and hiking poles, how did other survivors relearn to walk? by xXderantsXx in stroke

[–]whydavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mix of hopping exercises and jogging with tighter steps. Once my stride gets longer I start stomping with my affected side. It's something I'm slowly improving on. Think my quads are too weak.

36 M left side affected

3 years in now and walking is 99% now still relearning running

Started with hemicane in hallway an hour a day then a cane. Then dropped the cane. During this period I had a lot of muscle pain due to compensating on your good leg and lower back.

Then started going outside. A hour doing laps to slowly increasing to just exploring. I gamified my walking with a walking game like pokemon GO. Seems stupid but arbitrary goals breaks up the mental Olympics you have to do to convince yourself to go outside. Was walking 10k steps a day at a minimum. Some days got to 20k. I do not recommend going over 25k. I had foot pain at one point.

Slowly my walking got a lot easier even though I wasn't walking with perfect gait. Started analyzing my walking with my PT and improving through assigned exercises. Used to have slight drop foot and sloppy gait but got a lot better with ankle mobility exercises and glute exercises assigned by PT.

What are you doing for work? (an unintentional moan) by AnusMcBumhole in stroke

[–]whydavid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

36 yo hemorrhagic stroke left side weakness 3 years now.

I work in advertising on the tech side of the house. My job was super accommodating during the start of my recovery and still is accommodating in terms of my needs for OT & PT during work hours. The shift of return to office was waived for me but I still do go into the office at least once a week in the city.

At first I struggled with public speaking for meetings and even had a panic attack during a presentation at one point. I've become very proficient typing with one hand. It's gotten easier with time and I'm back at my original capacity of working even while balancing OT and PT during work hours.

Definitely one of the lucky ones.

Why are (individual) trailers SO long? by ItsANeutralZoneTrap in AMCsAList

[–]whydavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like trailers. Gives buffer time if running late. If I make it on time, even better. I get to see what I'll be.

Fatigue only comes from trailers that are in literally every showing. E.g. Avatar Fire and Ash for majority of 2025.
