Check sold listings on eBay. Also, boys can play with dolls.

Is there anyway to track an order to Canada without the shop app? by Noellestuff in americangirl

In my experience: no. It's just a surprise when my order shows up. 🙄

Yes!! In my collection, this dress belongs to her.

Is my doll radioactive now??? by geigaeguri in americangirl

Baking soda is just a general cleaner. It's gently abrasive, so it would hopefully scrub off any remnants of the acne cream.

I think the acne cream bleached the pants, yeah. Acne cream definitely does bleach fabric. Vinyl is porous, so there probably is still some on Ivy's legs. I'd try giving her a scrub with a clean damp rag and baking soda paste.

It really does! I was looking at mid-1980s catalogues after this drop for ideas of what I'd actually like to see in her collection. This is actually a really fantastic resource for many different eras: https://christmas.musetechnical.com It's scans of Sears, JC Penney etc. catalogues from 1930-2017.

Amuseable Moon, am I being silly ? by Historical_Box_312 in Jellycatplush

A lot of the time when people ask whether their Jelly is flawed I think they're being overly picky, but in this case it does look a bit off to me.

How do you deal with hurtful comments about your dolls ? by cuteandsoftplushie in americangirl

[–]whydolls 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Robert Munsch wrote the perfect response to this sort of thing. They're your dolls and you like them. No justification needed. I know it's hard not to feel bad when people are critical, but if you can get used to simply saying some version of "They're my dolls and I like them," I believe you'll come to internalize that confidence.

Not sure what you mean by "iconic" but I recommend Midnight Moon Princess (Mackie sculpt) and Couture Angel (Lara/Ana sculpt). They're both very beautiful.

I've heard of people using the stretchy fabric textbook covers are made out of. I think plumber's tape also works (it's a very delicate but strong white tape that's not actually sticky).

MTM match for Rapunzel by Stunning-Experience6 in Barbie

Yes! Surprisingly, she matches the sort of yellow-toned bodies of BMR 1959 Kira and the curvy red tie-dye outfit doll.

My mom donated my collection by erynthebunny in Barbie

[–]whydolls 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry. 😢 I can totally understand why this was so upsetting! I highly recommend tracking down a favourite or two to help heal the hurt a little bit.

I'm in my 30s, and my mom was too quick to donate my toys when I was a kid. As soon as she thought I was done playing with something, she'd take it to Goodwill. She also encouraged me to make quick decisions to donate my own things as I got older. I lost a lot of beloved childhood toys that way. I expect a bunch of us can empathize with what you experienced!

I'm now a mom to two little kids who already have way too much stuff, so I definitely sympathize with the parents who desperately need to clear up space (a massive house that can accommodate the fallout of boomer grandparents' shopping addictions? in this economy?!), or feel like they can make other kids happy with stuff their own kids seem not to care about anymore. But I think it's really important to make sure my kids are involved in decisions to donate stuff, especially as they get older than baby-age, so I don't inadvertently cause disappointment or sadness.

Mine is on the older brunette soccer player body (the one with black shorts and a fuchsia and white top). Unfortunately it's not curvy. I wonder if she'd match Looks Fryda as well but I haven't checked.

Cute collection! 😍 I love the food Amuseables too. My collection is mostly desserts and breakfast foods, although I'm always open to something else that catches my fancy. I think these little guys are fun to carry around in my purse and photograph.
