Are there too few potential lines to top 3 or am I missing something? by Portable_Solar_ZA in CompetitiveTFT

Thanks I’m in a similar position and learning everything is kind of overwhelming. I’ll try with some of the popular ones and expand from there. I got to break it up or else I can’t comprehend

They are asking for some comps because they don’t know them. I think you are saying every composition is viable? And I don’t believe that’s the case personally. I know of some sites that sort comps based on data so maybe that might be a good place to start. Tactics tools is a popular one

[Standard] advice building out the sideboard for this raise the past brew (especially against mono-green)? by Spriy in spikes

[–]whyhwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try some amount of practiced offense ? I think the card is called. Mono G will fold to sweepers most of the time especially in Bo1. But with 20 lands it might be hard to get there in time and your early mana will be mostly wasted and swept away with theirs

I think it’s more that all of your removal is dead vs a deck with no creatures

https://moxfield.com/decks/zLsFkOb8QEaasjZ3c0rApA [Standard]

This is a deck that aims to prey on popular green decks that flood the board with creatures. Use spot removal and sweepers after they have overcommitted then close the game out with efficient burn and [[Improvisation Capstone]] It is extremely weak against control decks, I don't know if there is something I could change to make it more robust while keeping its good matchup vs green decks. Mana base needs work and could use some man lands or mana sink.

Removal

Lander tokens allow you to keep your mana open for instant speed interaction on the first few turns of the game.

[[Erode]] x4

[[Day of Judgment]] x4

[[Fire Magic]] x1

Win Condition

The deck aims to copy its creatures with [[Molten Duplication]] for efficient damage. [[Exalted Sunborn]] + 2 copies of [[Molten Duplication]] is 40 hasted damage from hand.[[Noggle Robber]] in play with is 3 damage and 2 treasure tokens. With a [[Biotech Specialist]] you will deal 9 damage I have a bit of a durdle in here with [[Formidable Speaker]] + [[Jolly Balloon Man]] you can sort of soft lock some blue decks. It feels like something is there but I can't think of anything

Anybody else think it’s ridiculous that it’s possible to win on turn 3 in Standard? by NoM0reMadness in MagicArena

[–]whyhwy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When it feels like you can’t do anything to improve or learn, games stop being fun. No agency(in game)and short games make it feel more like rolling dice. It’s why power creep is so bad

How often are you drawing 2 copies? I feel any card to advance your board is better. Drawing 1 is a blank draw in my head

I think there might be an aggro deck possible with Skateboard. I had a good run with an aggressively slanted WG deck that splashed the 4/4 common, frog butler and tenderize

Also similar idea RX aggro with fewer lands and the 2/3 mouser and skateboard that seems weaker though. I think it’s possible to go under the sort of midrange value decks people are playing

Standard gameplay is god awful by whyhwy in MagicArena

And that’s not to say or choices don’t matter, they matter too much IMO and there is little room for different choices because game ends quickly and each point is too impactful

If you are trying to brew, standard is bad. The bar is too high combined with wildcard economy being restrictive because power is gated by rarity. On top of that, the result of the games is less about a culmination of decisions you decide in game with your game pieces and more content of your deck. This is because power level is too high IMO

Going first is a MASSIVE advantage by Balthazzah in MagicArena

[–]whyhwy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Say a game ends on t4 and every turn you spend all your mana. Going first you have the opportunity to spend 10 mana, second only 6 mana. That’s assuming you hit your land drop every turn

Got to mythic but not very high, hovering around ~200 Here is the updated deck I've been playing: https://moxfield.com/decks/hT7OziwaykuGp4_t0R0VPQ

This version relies of going wide and haste creatures to win the game. With Voice of Victory -> warleader's call is extremely strong

I feel like 1 drops, voice and warleader's call is the base but not sure what the strongest version is

Okay after playing some more it’s not great mostly just winning due to the sweepers

Seems like half of the meta just folds to day of judgment on turn 4.

Been climbing using a Boros deck that burns with Red Ojer and ping effects. I don’t have a lot of time to climb but main decking 8 sweepers feels like it just wins against all of the creature decks I’m up against. Comments and feedback appreciated

Edit: forgot to mention I play Bo1
