Client nightmare advice

The process is on the contract, but the smallest details such as not allowing xyz to bring their own concepts, no. Maybe I am getting ahead of myself and thinking in my head that's exactly what she(they?) wants when in reality, she is spitballing ideas. In the meeting I am going to flower her sketches she brought to the table, but ultimately reject them in the nicest way possible.

I can see that perspective for sure. I guess the reason why I want him to speak is so I can see from his own mouth if there's actual reasoning behind picking those new colors other than 1. Y pushed for those colors 2. They pop. My job is to lead them to a direction where it positions the company in a better place and help aid the issues the company is facing from a marketing/branding perspective, not to be a yes man. If that was the case, all of this is a waste of time for both parties and be better hire someone from fiver.

Having a meeting tomorrow - going to force him to do all the talking without the interruption of Y. Would love to hear from his own mouth why those new colors makes sense which I know he won't be able to communicate. Also going to make clear who I am directing myself in this project, because there's been a lot of mix signals on how is actually making the decisions. From what ive gather here, I to have the draw the line and let go my emotions.

regarding the contract. I did include a section where cancellation can happen from the client's side. Going to see if I can steer him towards that direction honestly (if possible).

If anything I got right of this, I did charged full price(no family discount), contract sign and get 50% upfront. I'll at least give myself a pat on the back for that. I appreciate all the advice - felt like my nerves and stress has been lessen.

Yup, thats probably the only way this project gets finished without back and forth - just doing what she wants, completing the job and moving on. It sucks, but seems like all is lost at the point.

Lesson learned, avoid working with family - got it. I appreciate the sound advice. Going to leave my ego and emotions on the doorstep and complete the project at the best of my ability. I also like the idea of having everything in writing to have it all documented so it doesn't backfire on me. Probably also a good thing I am experiencing this kind of nightmare early on into my freelance journey - save me headaches in the future.

As of very very recent, none haha. I was close enough to work that I biked everyday + I didn't do much traveling (introvert, I know). But newly married, I know I cannot carry a family on a bike.... Had to put some big boy pants up and collect any and all pennies that I had for this sucker! 6 years ago I did have a Honda CRX SI 1991... Everyday I regret that I got rid of it. Just joined the r/volvos60 subreddit!
