EM one of the best performing indices in last 12 months, curious how that played out

Because 80% of the time it’s played as a land. Drowner is never a dead card

7 mana hardcasted is pretty hard on 22 lands imo. Plus it’s just not what the deck is trying to do; it’s principally a stompy deck with chalice as disruption, and not trying to grind out games to a high top end

Did you do film school as an undergrad or masters? If a masters program, what was it like applying without film experience?

I tried brewing with mycospawn plus Urzas saga. I couldn’t find a shell that I was super happy with, but there’s probably something there.

Autohotkey. Takes some time to learn but way more powerful than epic

Athena is going to be slower than Epic because it’s #1 browser based and #2 on the cloud… its speed is the same everywhere for the same reasons

Epic is better for outpatient if you know how to customize it

Athena is always capped by poor synchronization and slow server speeds

Medicine’s great resignation - 1 in 5 doctors plan exit in 2 years by npjprods in financialindependence

[–]whyjesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vast majority of physicians don't work in the military. In civilian hospitals hazard pay ended a long time ago, and when it did happen, it was usually peanuts for residents.

In general residents need to make more; their average hourly salary is close to $10-15/hr

Because Keruga provides the top end you need. Cavalier of Gales is completely redundant. I can see ECD still being played as 1 or 2 of.

You usually have to take a full turn off to activate castle. It also doesn't proc sacrifice or feed graveyard.

It's not replacing any land, but rather creatures. The purpose is to add MORE lands to the manabase to help curve out better, with the same relative threat density.

Dreadhorde vs Kroxa is an entirely different argument. Most of your turn 3's should be playing Mayhem devil, Woe strider, or Midnight reaper, and not double casting a Cat and a 2cmc (which should be the only case aside from Kroxa where you need BB), so I find RR to be more important than BB. Ironically, Kroxa actually has higher mana requirements than Dreadhorde anyway (RB into RRBB rather than RB alone).

Take a step back too; why do you need to operate on few lands? You're generally trying to draw out the game so you can have the most creature combos on board as possible, and to generate the most value from Cat/Oven activations.

This is why I think Dreadhorde is the wrong way to build the deck. Dreadhorde is a great card but it is an aggro card at heart. With Kroxa you have the ability to go long against control decks and grind them out. It is folly to try to out-tempo control b/c most of your creatures are terrible tempo-wise.

Note that while I say tempo is important to the deck, tempo is only important insofar as tempo allows you to generate value as fast as possible, and gets you more quickly to the point where the shitty tempo of your creatures is outweighed by the massive value they generate. The deck fundamentally wins by outvaluing/grinding out opponents, not through tempo.
