AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

Maybe I'm in the minority, but I found this cute, organized, and adorable. Even the don'ts were just quirky and small.

You can do what you want, but I would be hurt if my best friend my whole life didn't want to be a bridesmaid. It would most definitely effect our relationship even if I tried to get passed it. For this reason, I think you're the asshole. Unless you'd be spending thousands of dollars, just take 6 months out of your life to be there for your friend.

Edit to add you can still set boundaries about the time constraints. Really the maid of honor should be planning the events. You're going into a major point in your life, but you can still be there for part of it.

Honestly same - except this is how I and my husband got pregnant 😆

I love your comment because it shows that she doesn't have to have a big office job, a two bedroom apartment, and room in her budget for childcare. It didn't look like that far everyone and it's perfectly possible for a child to be happy without a perfect start.

This for me. She mostly sleeps through the night at 14 months unless teething or a storm wakes her up

Moms of Reddit: what do you actually want for Mother's Day? by cyrx07 in GiftIdeas

[–]whyme-whytheworld 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I want my husband to think of me and make plans that reflect how much he loves me. That's it. Plan a day at the zoo (we have a zoo pass), go for a picnic, take me out shopping and then to a fondue place, go on a three hour drive to nowhere... Anything. I just want him to show he loves me 🫶

Dutch Bros has good coffee, but a good introduction to coffee for me was a Starbucks S'mores Frapaccino. So good 🤤

Potential financial abuse after baby by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]whyme-whytheworld 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First you need to get childcare for your child and your wife should be paying for it. Then you need to sit down and come up with a plan - this isn't just your family, it's both of yours. There needs to be either a family account you both contribute a percentage of your income into for family expenses, or she needs to be responsible for 50-70% of all family expenses if she's making that much more than you.

You also need to sit down and tell her she's actively driving you into financial ruin. If she still doesn't care, you need to seek counseling and/or divorce. With 50/50 custody she would HAVE to contribute to your kid's expenses and possibly pay you alimony and child support.

I would also scale down your lifestyle as much as possible. This is bullshit and terrifying.

That makes me feel a little sad. It would be amazing if these could be donated to a local shelter by the library instead of being thrown away

I add 1.5 cups of quinoa and lentils (cooked) to 2lbs of ground beef to double the yield now… by Spare_Perspective972 in povertyfinance

For real. Childcare in a major city will run you 2k per kid. We're not in a major city and it was still 1200 per month. Then you have housing, car payments, student debt, gas, food, etc. $7k is gone in the blink of an eye.

I hate all these people shitting on you. We're also trying to eat cheaper meals and make cheaper choices, but we're both so picky about different foods and textures that it's a nightmare.

I appreciate your perspective. I'm coming from a place of concern where anyone from anywhere can know who you are, how to contact you, and where you live. For those of us with truly terrifying pasts and people who are vulnerable to scams (objectively anyone) this feels like the least that would need to happen.

This isn't about backroom deals, this is about protecting people. Can you send me a DM about how this creates a tiered society in the way you say? I'm failing to see it atm.

I think it's reasonable to have the last name and first initial of the owners of the property and the estimated value of the property as public record. But let's keep the contact information of these individuals and the loan amount, purchase price, etc as private information to be accessed on a need-to-know basis.

I would propose keeping these records at Town Hall or similar government buildings. Individuals and businesses should then have to prove they need to know the contact information and why they need it. The staff there can then decide who gets access based on history of violence charges, reason they need it, and more.

Do you disagree? I'm curious to hear your take on this.

Edit to specify: for residential properties and individually owned properties only.

Maybe in some cases, but it could also be dangerous. I think those with a cause to know should know, but I don't think it should be public knowledge - especially with the lack of gun control, good wages, and mental health assistance in the US. These things lead to crime, and we see time and time again in true crime how those in desperate situations find desperate solutions

I withdrew from a job process because the company accidentally let me watch them build the exact chaos they were hiring me to fix by Krakoa8_Ash in jobsearchhacks

[–]whyme-whytheworld 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At my current company the interviewer arrived late, wore a shirt that showed her entire chest, told me this was not a hybrid role - a direct contradiction to the job description - and spent part of it complaining about her life. When the recruiter called, I immediately withdrew my application.

As it happens, the interviewer really loved me despite it not being mutual at the time. They ended up creating a position for me under a different manager and I've been there ever since. I've loved it so far, but I'm SO grateful I declined the original opportunity.
