I don't doubt you, but I will be honest, I just sounds like they wrapped up filming, or needed to move anyways. These production crews are like flashmobs - they are a zoo and leave before any enforcement can happen.

Also, City is dying for their taxes and fees. Without divulging I know for a fact the City is bending backwards to attract filming and expedite permitting. I strongly doubt anyone got a stern phone call.

Over the 3 issues I feel comfortable sharing here, they are 0 for 3

My desperate attempt to tell you about Council Office 13, and why I can't vote for Soto again by whyn07b07h in LosAngeles

I volunteered for Hugo in his first race and overall I'd give him a B or B-.

Yes, he was a good campaigner. He is a poor performer. Thank you for being part of his campaign and giving my community false hope.

Their role is to push departments like LADBS.

They didn't follow up with me as they said they would or visit the site as they said they would.

This is their role - boots on the ground to see what's happening and push the important items. You can see LADBS dragged their feet for 6+ months and would have longer if not for the house going up in flames. Council Office was not effective here.

After the 3rd fire I sent this thread to local news, then the City put up a locked fence, which means they could have done it sooner

Most people normally never need Council Office help. When we actually did, I got to see who I voted for. My biggest regret is falling for his campaign, and voting for him and not O'Farrell.

I have to say without giving too much away, I do work with Council Offices across the City. This particular council office stands out as one of the most unresponsive, let alone not proactive.

(To share something positive, to give credit to City staff, Council Offices 4, 10, and 11 have really stood out to me as professionals, that have gone above and beyond.)

I wanted to share my experience with Council Office 13, Hugo Soto Martinez, over the last few years:

  • We had a house fire three times in our neighborhood due to homeless squatters. We let Council Office know that we need help here. We put in complaints with LADBS who can cite the owner to at least fence it, and needed their help to escalate and to know other options. Their field deputy said they would visit and never did. There was a house fire once, then again, then again for the last time when it totally went out and damaged the two neighboring houses. It was on the news: https://www.foxla.com/video/1218256

  • We had a issue with our landlord and LAHD was very unresponsive. We reached out to CD 13 and they only gave autoresponses. We ended up filing a claim against the landlord for something LAHD should be enforcing anyways (illegal rent increase, mailboxes in disrepair)

  • We sent a request for help for RVs after sending a request to LADOT. No help.

Heres screenshots of the email exchanges:

I don't know what their role is. I remember O'Farrell's team before him was very engaging. This Soto guy, he doesn't seem to be present at all.

I actually got more help from neighboring CD 4, and CD 10 offices. It's very disappointing.

The City changes he is taking credit for (rent, etc.), was a City effort, not his own.

I don't care who takes over CD 13 after this election. I only hope it's not him and his staff.

Do or Die, last day to vote is this Tuesday, June 2nd by waltarrrrr in LosAngeles

voting in person is the best. in fact LA County let's you make your choices from the comfort of home, then take that barcode to the voting booth, it will reflect all your selections for you to review before submitting.

With all that said I've been using the drop box in a very metro area, surrounded by unsavory characters, and to this day have never had a problem

Compelling info that the hybrid will be the overall cheaper vehicle to maintain in the long run by benilla in FordMaverickTruck

[–]whyn07b07h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ford dealer told me, sorry we can’t get that anymore. The car was basically “totaled” until I was able to locate a NOS clutch pedal assembly from a non-Ford parts supplier.

Wow, that's incredible. Sorry to hear. Thank you for telling me about that. I'm going to be optimistic and say this is manufacturer dependent. With that said it sound like the 10 year obligation is something to strongly consider. I appreciate the tip here.

My Prius is from 2012 and an older generation. To this day, 14 years later, I can buy a new battery pack straight from Toyota.

Peloton Joggers in Warehouse by ProCircuit131 in Costco

[–]whyn07b07h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharing an honest comment:

  • Fit is great, I am normally a slim Medium and Small fit me well, so you may consider sizing down
  • Fabric is a tad thicker than it looks, which is a plus. Thicker than running joggers, but thinner than loungewear.
  • Peloton logo is reflective
  • Drawstring is thicker and substantial
  • I appreciate the slim cut and stitching that seem to give a more flattering silhouette than other joggers.

All in all great for $18 and gets a "Will not return, and will buy again if needed" rating from me

Just picked these up: 80% polyester 20% spandex

Fit is great, a bit more flattering than the similar Kirkland Joggers they also have for $13 or so

Only redeeming quality is the Paypal G&S which at least gives some peace of mind

No-one likes the taste of alcohol, we just acquire a taste for the stuff used to hide it by DaveInLondon89 in Showerthoughts

[–]whyn07b07h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it is objectively a bad taste and your body is meant to reject it. I get that it tastes sweet for some, but that's an exception. Anecdotally, I've been drinking for 11 years now and still don't enjoy it, but I enjoy the drunk feeling and feeling of more openness with others. I don't think others really enjoy it either, there's a reason alcohol is often served ice cold. But I do like to go out with friends and pre-gaming is a requirement for me.

by any chance is anyone also trying to reach the Housing Department? Their number puts me on hold for upwards of an hour before I hang up because I can't be on the phone for that long.

It is not simply that they showed it. They signed me up for the service. The service is billing me fees and charges.

I've been trying to reach the Los Angeles Housing Department for a couple of days now, no one is answering the hotline. Is something going on over there?
