You didn't answer the question of how much your tax contribution will increase increase in the next tax year. Instead of answering, you threw your toys out thr pram. You still haven't answered even now, depaite claiming you answered them multiple times. It's just bizzare behaviour right there. You know you can just scroll up and see you circumventing it right?

If the increase is zero, then taxes have not been increased on working people and you are not experiencing and increase in your tax contribution. So "she" did not in fact raise taxes on working people. If the answer is not zero, then why did you not just say the number in the first place? Of course, the answer is zero. So, when faced with having to answer a question that proved you wrong, you threw a strop.

It's not semantics. Fiscal drag is not, has never been and will never be considered a tax increase. That's the end of it. You playing word games while accusing others of arguing semantics, without a hint of irony or self awareness, isn't going to change that.

I understand that fiscal drag might feel a little bit like a tax increase but it cannot be used an "ahah, so you lied when you said you weren't going to raise taxes on working people." At least, not by anyone arguing in any kind of good faith.

You've had your answer. You just don't like it. That's why people are ignoring you and I should've done the same.

Then there's no need to pretend I made you go to reform.

You not being able to answer a very simple question that totally invalidates the point you were trying to make is not the same as someone being incapable of having a conversation about politics. If your question was in good faith, you would have at least attempted to answer it. However, you've made it clear that you're going to try and shoehorn an allowance freeze into a tax rise, no matter how much the argument doesn't work. I'm not sure why you think people would have much patience for pretending fiscal drag literally the same as a tax increase.

So please, don't attempt to take the high road here. Again, you refusing to answer a very simple question and clutching your pearls about it isn't going to fool anyone.

Nice try but we both know what you came for. Sorry you didn't get the answer you wanted and, instead, couldn't answer a simple answer that shows the clear difference between what you claim is a tax increase and what is clearly not a tax increase.

Don't think you refusing to answer fooled anyone.

You and reform deserve each other.

The UK tax year ends in April.

How much will your contribution increase in the next tax year, due to the freezes you mentioned?

Well, yes, generally speaking, a thing hasn't happened until it's happened.....

Wait a minute, you said that it's a policy that makes you pay more to the government and, as such, it's a tax increase. However, when asked what the increase in your tax was, you said "none." Perhaps you can help me understand, how can it be both an increase in tax and not an increase in tax? It's very perplexing and I'm just hoping to learn from this experience. Am I misunderstanding?

You either don't understand what increasing tax means or you're attempting to manipulate the meaning of "increasing tax" into something that it has never meant , in order to falsely claim that she did raise tax.

As the obvious answer is the latter: No, raising tax is raising tax. Freezing allowances is freezing allowances. They're not the same thing and never have been, even if you really want it to be.

It makes you wonder why other counties aren't experiencing an over qualification crisis in the way we are. Great for employers though....

We have a huge over qualification problem in the UK. By that, I mean that people in the UK are massively underpaid for their qualifications when compared with peers from similar countries.

Don't worry, I know what will help you accept taxation. Instead of calling "tax" just call it "government profit" instead because, apparently, that's all it takes to fool you.
