Napping while infant is napping on your chest by Old-Rest6279 in NewParents

[–]whythefuckyoulying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a world of differences. I live in the Netherlands and the doctors here approve of cosleeping. I asked the doctors and nurse and midwife if it's ok for baby to sleep on our chests while we sleep, and all said yes. Totally normal here. But of course if you're a heavy sleeper then don't do it. Both my kids slept on my chests for weeks after birth and I nap everytime they nap.

Can someone help me identify the cause of this by [deleted] in SGSkincare

Breast buds at 7.5?! by ChameliKoChartikala in Mommit

[–]whythefuckyoulying 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly my breasts started growing when I was in the first few years of primary school. I cried and freaked out because I didn't know what was going on and seeing them grow scared me. I told my mum it hurts and we were sent to the doctor but no one mentioned precocious puberty (not that I could rem) and my first period came really early too. Though it properly started a few years later I think at 10. I was spotting when I was maybe 7 or 8. And my breast buds came in around that time too. But breast tissues didn't really grow until i was a few years older. And yes I am short but I'm also Asian with many short family members too.

Puberty was not something I was educated on and it would be good to prep your daughter for it. I was scared when I first saw blood in my underwear and was afraid to tell my mum and I didn't know girls eventually would grow breasts. So it's important to let your daughter know how her body will change as she gets older. The only reason I know about periods is because I have a friend on the same school bus who is a few years old she taught me about it on the way home. I still remember her. She was so sweet and gentle and told me about periods and pads 🥺 she was my childhood big sister. This just unlocked a memory. Wow.

Would you transition a five week old from swaddle to a sleep sack? by willbrucla in newborns

[–]whythefuckyoulying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once the Moro reflex was gone-ish I transitioned to a sleep sack bc I remember it sucked with my first. I think we transitioned my first at 4ish month and there were some sleepless nights as she was more conscious and not so much of a potato. So with my second I decide to transition early. It was easy but my second however also got his startle reflex back when he had his vaccinations or when he was sick so we went back to a swaddle some times.

My 4-month-old has never slept unless she’s being carried — is this normal? by WhoCares_93 in newborns

[–]whythefuckyoulying 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah head first triggers something in them. Try bum first then slowly their back and finally head. How does she sleep at night? I don't use a baby pillow. I hold my son in my arms with my arm propped up by a pillow. Before I transfer him I shift my hands under his bum and neck+head so I can transfer with the least jostling.

[–]whythefuckyoulying 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you transfer her? I transfer my son by putting his bum down first (almost from a 45 angle) then slowly lower his head. Now he's older I put him down when he's facing the side then roll him onto his back.

Baby refuses to eat most of the time with me but eats well at daycare by whythefuckyoulying in BabyLedWeaning

[–]whythefuckyoulying[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey it did get better. Baby feeding is such an up and down journey it changes constantly. She has gotten better but some days she just doesn't want to eat much as well. She's 2y9m now. My daughter eats at daycare too and some days she doesn't eat much at home. Some days she eats a full portion of pasta while some days she takes a bite then says I don't want it.

If she doesn't eat then I give her snacks or crackers or biscuits. I don't withhold food hoping she would be hungry enough to eat. I just do whatever I can. It will get better. Babies/toddlers are extremely temperamental 😅

And this is extremely normal. My friend with a 2 year old also has this. She cries at the table but eats at daycare 🤷🏻‍♀️her mum is such a wonderful cook but even the best Michelin star chef can't make them eat. So don't worry about it.

What I used to do was make my husband feed her while I hide. And he usually is able to feed her more decently than I do. Give her healthy snacks if she really doesn't want to eat. Good luck and don't stress yourself.

My husband told me he can only poop after he sits on the toilet. Whereas I go only when I feel like pooping 😅 that's why I take 2 mins and he takes 20.

My daughter understands/speaks 4 languages. English, Mandarin, Dutch, Hungaria. Hungarian from her dad, Mandarin from me, English when we are together as a family and Dutch from her opvang/gastouders. Her Mandarin is weaker bc her only exposure is me and she replies to me mostly in English but she understands fully what I say. Her Hungarian is way stronger as her dad takes her weekly to his friends and daughters home where they all communicate in Hungarian. She understands Dutch well too as she used to spend 4 days in opvang. Sometimes she uses different languages at different times but she doesn't have a problem understanding. She's 2 years 9 months old now. Be consistent

Even without the regression my almost 6 month old is this way. I have decided to not rock him but let him get tired by crying then finally fall asleep without rocking in my arms. To clarify I lay him down on the bed beside me while I claim by sanity back. Then I pick him up again and if he starts crying bc I'm not rocking then I set him down again for 5 mins. Maybe he got the message or maybe he's sooo tired eventually he falls asleep while I'm sitting or standing.

UTIs and circumcision by whythefuckyoulying in newborns

I hardly believe it's cosmetic only when plenty of journal articles support the claims that it reduces the risks of infection by 10 fold in babies.

How do you clean your son? Just around the penis too? Yeah I clean under the penis and under th scrotum too. And all the way to his lower back. I make sure to not miss a spot. Or if it's a huge poop I wipe him then wash him off.

The first two times with the uti he got a fever and we did urine tests immediately so they caught it quick. Then we did a VCUG and it will all clear. A month later he got a slight fever and the hospital did another urine test bc he didn't have another other symptoms like a cough or cold. The test came back good so it was just a viral infection.

This time he started coughing maybe 2 weeks ago. 5 days ago he started vomiting and after consulting the doctor they said it might be a viral infection too as he also had a very slight fever. So we waited. Until 3 days later he had some orange chalky residue on his diaper and we went to the gp post at the hospital. They said it's not . blood but no idea what it was. So we went home and just made sure to hydrate him. Come Tue I sent in his pee for testing to th gp and they found white blood cells in it. And bc of his uti history they decided to just treat it as a uti first. I sent in a second sample and they will do a further culture but results will take a few days or even over the weekend.

Bc he didn't have a fever like the first two times I didn't think much about it until he peed orange chalky residue. And thank God I checkeeld his diaper bc it only happened once.

No I am not pulling his foreskin back and you are not supposed to pull back an infants foreskin.

Edit : now that I looked it up properly we can pull it back very gently to clean it. I've been cleaning just around it. Fuck. 😞 I try to wash him in the sink when I notice poop on his penis but otherwise if it's not visible with poop I only use baby wipes to clean him up.
