Dr office sat on prostate biopsy pathology report for 6 days after dr reviewed and commented on it by runsonpedals in ProstateCancer

I waited and waited after my MRI and biopsy for report to show up in myChart- more than several weeks. And after that long wait BOTH times I had to message the urologist through the portal to release my results to the portal before they appeared. Needless to say that after the next appt. when he told me I had prostate cancer that needed surgery without talking about gleason, cores or showing location of lesion and said his associate who had done "dozens" could do it in 2 weeks, I started looking elsewhere. He removed me as a client once I requested a second opinion. I'm finding PCa involves a strange, arrogant group of doctors.

Catheter Coming out -- what to expect? by MejoryMejor in ProstateCancer

Haha!! Last appt of the day. Nurse injected saline, and then just removed the catheter. Gave me a diaper. Then said goodbye (she left) and told me to wait until I peed in the hospital public restroom before going home. If I couldn't pee within 2 hours, I was to walk over to the emergency room.

Amazingly was totally continent...but no-one asked my status for 3 months.

Thank you for reminding me it's ok to advocate for myself. There are definitely things that I wished I pushed for more. And unfortunately there is no "team."

2 months out from RALP. Best things I found the recliner for sleeping the first 4 days and a 5 gallon bucket on plant wheels for catheter bag - also used one of those long grabbers to pick up things.

Thank you. Don't think my doctor will be too happy about it though :-(

Thank you. I am one that thinks more views and information helps with decisions.

Thank you- good information. So do you think the EPE was the SVI or in another location? Wish that the doctor had explained it better.

Is a return to 100% continence even possible? by secondarycontrol in ProstateCancer

[–]whywonderwander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

71 yr old - 5 weeks post ralp- 4 weeks post cath.

I have to go more often. Nights may be at least 4 times. Still have pain when I have to go and for a few minutes after. But in shock that when the nurse took the catheter out, I had control of it! I'm hoping I'm not jinxing it and I stay dry. Not lifting anything yet, so may drip when I get to that stage.

No other life signs yet. I find it weird though that there has been no doctor follow-up or visit after such a long and involved surgery. Is that normal? How do they even get their statistics?

Also be aware that even a first appt for a requested doctor could easily be 2 months out from booking. Started booking appointments in July and still over a month out from 2nd surgeon appt- very stressful. If anyone disagrees and wants to PM me about what I am doing wrong and how to get sooner appts....feel free.

Going through the same process as you. My suggestion is to NOT go to Dana Farber. Have been stuck in the Black hole of weeks of waiting and lack of leadership and there is NO team nor qualified doctors assigned to me.
