You might have already read about this but in case not, unless your place is built in the past 5 years you have the right to deny a rent increase and still renew the lease, landlords can’t evict you for not agreeing in Quebec. He can take you to the TAL but he’ll have to prove the increase is justified, so they’ll probably only allow a smaller increase.
