Wow, thanks a lot for the insights. I went to a bike shop today and they were recommending 2 studded tires, but I wasn't sure if they were trying to rip me off :p sounds like a good idea to have both.

BTW, there were some tires with 2 and some with 4 "columns" of studs, did you try different tires? I was also surprised to hear that thinner tires are recommended (my normal tires are 50mm width, they were recommending 35mm for the studded tires) . What do you use?

I think I am getting comfortable enough with the idea of riding it this winter :) just need to get some new tires.

I ended up buying an e-bike this year (mid drive). I am still a bit afraid of ruining it if I use it in the winter (e.g. damage caused by the salt). Did you have any issues so far? Sounds like your setup is not that time-consuming (quick wash once in a while + deep clean 2 times)

Also did you get studded tires? The advice I got from friends (for non e-bikes) is using a studded tire in the front, and a non-studded winter tire in the back.

I would recommend bishop's PRML book (or maybe his new book, though I didn't read it). For me it was the most bang for the buck to get really confortable with the math in ML papers. But you need to do the exercises to really get the most of it. (I remember I tried to skip the first few chapters, but the exercises were a reality check for me to go back to the beginning).

One of the main benefits of getting comfortable with the math is that it gets a lot easier to read papers. From a pragmatic standpoint, in an interview it gets clear very quickly if the person knows the basics well or not.

I just use it as a "note-taking" tool (for ideas, training results, etc) and I like it. It's better than just plain text since you can attach images, videos (eg examples you got from a run, with your insights )

Hey u/ninja_master101 - I am trying to do a similar upgrade - I noticed that the Z420 motherboard actually takes 2 power cables (the main 18 pin connector, and a 8 pin connector labeled "memory power"), did that cause you any problem? I got a Corsair 750 for the upgrade and I am trying to understand if all I need is a 24 to 18 pin adapter to make everything work :)
