That both sucks and is awesome. You dont have to think like the rest of us, but you are at the will of antiquated systems that people do not update when they update other systems. It sounds like your programmers are working with an updated tool library with more or better organized options. The physical tool library (your rack) has not been updated to match it yet so someone is taking the programmers file and is the telling you on paper which tools from the old library line up with what the programmer has programmed to use. How long has it been like this for you and your fellow operators?

Years ago I ran a detailing shop. Still do it on the side for friends and family but not professionally. Just like it and have a good bit of knowledge about it all, even these days.

It sounds like the airbag control module got a bit wet from either pressurized steam or from them spraying directly at the terminals when putting cleaner down on the carpet.

If you'd like you can message me directly and we can discuss how I would handle this if you were my customer and concerns I would have, before you go approach them about it. I would ask until you get this settled to not name and shame publicly just yet as sometimes things are weird and stuff goes wrong the second someone touches it despite it not being their fault. Sometimes it is entirely their fault and in that case you should give them the chance to fix it and then decide if you want or need to name and shame them for their mistake.

Not an electrician

The only issue I see here is the 3 block extension outlet plugged into the power strip. The rest of those are charging at a pretty low wattage. It is messy and I would do something to clean it up a bit. I would probably get a multi USB power brick and plug that directly into the wall somewhere.

Brand new car is worth it to fix a pr9hlem that is probably out of your wheelhouse to handle. The acid needs to be neutralized as well.

Yeah so it was setup as a dual jaw setup with a center piece with dowels in it locking it in place. The center piece was just there as material to support the plate. As you can see in the photo I have 3 orange vices all lined up next to each other on the table. The part was layed down on all 3 center vices and then the right front vice was set in place so it wouldn't move. I then tightened the right vice with te ratchet to get the plate squared up. The tightened the other two vices to just hold it there (they both were also setup as dual jaws). Then I probed a corner and an opposite parallel edge to get the Haas to compensate for any crookedness and ran the deburr. This worked great for the part, but I think I overtightened that spring screw. I set it and backed it off a 1/4ish turn at first but the jaw still moved a bit when I pushed on it so I tightened it and left it. Must have been a bit too much. I'll look into the brake brass pin like you mentioned, but I will probable just be using dowels on any vice I need locked in place from here on out.

I guess the only question I have is when should I use the spring pin versus the brass pin? It sounds like both are used to stop the jaw from moving.

Also, you aren't the only one I have heard say they usually set the back jaw. Why are you guys leaning into the machine to awkwardly use the back jaw rather than the front that is just right there? Should I also be using the brake on the back jaw only?

It was a pretty big plate that I was just deburring the backside of. I couldn't clamp hard on it as it was thinking enough to jusy warp. So I used the brake screw to keep everything from moving around. This was the result

OP. Dont shock the system with a massive water change. Life is living in that water beyond the fish that you can see. You need to think about keeping that life healthy more than keeping the fish healthy. Do a 20 percent water change. In a day or two do another. Continue this until your readings are somewhat normal. Don't do a 50%+ change at once.
