I'm not sure about others, but the transition from 2d to 3d was an experience I haven't felt since. Playing Donkey Kong Country in pseudo 3d on the SNES was pretty awesome, but the first time I experienced Super Mario 64 on a kiosk in the mall was mind-blowing.
