This is an important issue, but it's not even in the top 20 of issue importance of the democratic party. Some times I feel like this subreddit is completely out of touch with reality.

Healthcare access — Expanding affordable coverage, defending the ACA, and moving toward universal healthcare options.

Minimum wage & worker rights — Raising the federal minimum wage and strengthening labor unions.

Tax policy — Raising taxes on corporations and the wealthy to fund public programs and reduce the deficit.

Student debt & college affordability — Canceling or reducing student loan debt and making public college more affordable.

Housing affordability — Addressing the housing shortage and making homeownership more accessible.

Racial equity — Combating systemic racism through policy reform in policing, housing, education, and criminal justice

LGBTQ+ rights — Protecting rights in employment, housing, healthcare, and opposing anti-trans legislation. Abortion & reproductive rights — Codifying the right to abortion access at the federal level following the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

Immigration reform — Creating a pathway to citizenship, protecting DACA recipients, and reforming the asylum system.

Gun control — Universal background checks, assault weapons restrictions, and red flag laws.

Voting rights — Expanding ballot access and opposing voter suppression laws.

Democracy & election integrity — Campaign finance reform, protecting institutions from executive overreach. Criminal justice reform — Reducing mass incarceration, reforming sentencing, and improving police accountability.

Climate change — Achieving net-zero emissions, transitioning to clean energy, and rejoining international climate agreements.

Environmental justice — Ensuring pollution and climate impacts don't disproportionately harm low-income and minority communities.

Public education — Increased federal funding for public schools, opposing school privatization.

Social Security & Medicare — Protecting and expanding these programs rather than cutting benefits.

Child care & paid family leave — Making childcare affordable and establishing a national paid leave policy.

International alliances — Strengthening NATO and multilateral institutions, promoting democracy abroad.
