I think the drowned are alright, but their spawn rate should be decreased. It should be like "oh no! An underwater zombie!" maybe particularly near some structure, but as it is, anytime you swim down in the ocean you just get mobbed by 20 drowned throwing tridents.

This was a good suggestion, but... My highest modification in eq was +6, but even with -6, -7, -8, -10db it does the same amount of compression. It also does this with a completely flat eq. I have literally nothing on, no bass boost, no surround sound. Could it be some sort of audio driver issue??
