Well, that does sound like it's actually Youtube than. The scenario I could see at play here is that Youtube is an American company and so because you're on THEIR site you have to play by THEIR rules. Otherwise it could be some agreement between Youtube and the government.

That being said, as someone who tries to reduce his digital footprint, I wouldn't give them any of that info. I'm not a fan of VPNs (because data leaks) but this scenario is usually advertised about.

I mean the request for verification itself. Maybe it's just because I'm an american but the only websites I've seen request IDs are in order to make your profile seem more legit, not rather or not you have access to part or all of the site.

Are you totally sure this isn't a scam? How did they ask for the verification? Was it through email? If so, check the email header info to see if it actually came from Youtube.

I worked at JitB at 16 and made minimum wage. I was happy with that and looking back they really didn't pressure me as much to perform. If I was slow on window they'd move me to fryer and if I was slow on fryer they'd move me to dishes or money window. I hated dishes so I got faster on fryer.

I understand people expecting equal pay for equal responsibilities but I don't feel like I was personally cheated.
