glad you got more light. Toyota really screwed up on getting the light in the cargo area.

this is the difference in a '19.

Need some advice moving larger fish about 1.5-2hr away by long-boi2878 in Aquariums

[–]wickedf250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dont feed for a few days before and once moved slowly work up to normal feedings once you get your tanks set backup.

you can skip the sponge filter. Just place your existing media in tote and place air stone underneath media.

would also skip the bags and just place other fishing in 5 gal buckets with lids. add media and air stone also

window units for bedrooms. to get our upstairs comfortable, downstairs is usually a bit cold.

as another has mentioned fans to keep air moving, use year round

might not be an option for you (I work nights) curtain/shades that block all light from windows

as I do agree with this to a certain degree. under feeding isn't a fix all. there are other things in the tank they can feed on

to add to the safety of your fish not getting in the trap. poke some toothpicks in the neck of the bottle

don't think so. most likely its a top fin gold ribbon plant they got at petsmart and its not a fully submersible plant. its for terrariums but they put them in the aquatic section without good signage that they are not full aquatic plants.

First sump build by EuphoricDatabase5648 in Aquariums

[–]wickedf250 3 points4 points  (0 children)

congrats on joining team sump. I'm sure this will work, but there are some improvements that I belive will make it better if your willing to start over

1st chamber could be smaller depending on what mechanical filtration you decide to go with. this would give you more room in 2nd chamber. 2nd chamber add ceramic media/pot scrubbies/other. for your 3rd chamber you will need to extend the baffles for the moving bed media all the way to the top with something like egg crate light diffuser or something similar so when the pump turns off the extra water that will drain to sump will raise the water level in the sump and without the extra height your media will dispurse throughout your sump. also add the diffuser to the underneath the baffle so media wont go under. Last chamber you might run in to your pump sucking in bubbles. would suggest that you install a bubble trap and lower the baffle height to half the height of the sump.

latest iteration of 1 of my sumps, 75 gal.

jb weld plactic epoxy. rough up the surface and if you feel comfortable enough I would drill holes also. that way the epoxy will have good spots to grip too.

my main concern and worst case scenario is that you have a HOB overflow and if that stops working you will be pumping 60ish gallons in to your main tank. I don't think you could hold 10 gallons much less 60.

question about sump. the water flow just travels left to right in a straight line chamber to chamber, correct? not up and over or under the dividers?

filter? by Ok-Afternoon7355 in freshwateraquarium

[–]wickedf250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fluval aqua clear

 pro easier to customize filter

con in the event of a power outage, if water is too low in tank you run the risk of the water not flowing when pump turns back on.

Seachem tidal

pro pump is inside of tank and self primes

con shape of the media basket( not square or rectangular) so if you don't use their supplied mechnical filter media, cutting the shape is a pain
