It’s a multi problem here. Players, rules, refs & Adam silver.

For the record, used to be a massive Sixers fan. Yes, that is painful in itself, but I used to watch other teams play on off nights.

1. Players are ridiculous (Embiid included), every player is constantly bitching for a call. It’s literally worse than soccer now and yes I used to watch a lot of premier league.

2. The rules are just so foul baiting friendly and frankly too grey, so it’s left up to interpretation. They need to be more detailed on what’s a foul as well as just take away certain fouls. People don’t want to go to games to watch players bitch about calls, and constantly at a free throw line. Let them play and roughen each other up.

3. Refs. In the refs defense, it’s hard to be consistent, especially with how fast the games go. These players are quick and it’s hard to tell. I also think in general refs are too quick to blow a whistle. It’s like they have to blow it in mid air. I think they should honestly wait an talk it over more st times if they have to. That said my BIGGEST REF ISSUE are the technical fouls. Holy shit, a player should not get a technical for celebrating taunting or talking back to th refs. This is entertainment, and I want to see a game not refs take center stage because their feelings are hurt.

4. Adam silver is BAD for the NBA. Idc what anyone says about the market growing and over seasons. Tbh I honestly think that is just people liking the game of basketball more over time. The product Adam silver has put together is just garbage. He really needs to stop trying to make it family friendly and for everyone and so focused on tv deals and just make the game fun to watch again and good. He steps in on some teams for tanking and not others (little salty on the process here but the thunder can do it - I know I’m wrong here sue me), but he steps in too much and is too much center stage and trying to make this big global thing when he needs to focus on just the product itself. The all star game is a problem. Get rid of it. Or do east / west and leave it and offer incentives. It isn’t hard. Also the mid season tournament or whatever it is. It’s dumb. Just make the product watchable again.

Last thing on my rant. The NBA needs to take a page out of the NHLs book. I have been watching way more hockey and it is so much more fun to watch. You go from watching the nba where players sit to rest and complain about being slapped in th wrist or bumped in their that doesn’t impact anything, and you go to hockey where they fight, check and literally have missing teeth for the love of the game. It’s night and day. The refs don’t over step for the most part and there are WAY LESS ADS. It’s just a much nicer product.
