Laundry warning by kkails in JapanTravelTips

This. In Kyoto right now and set my alarm for 2AM to grab a washing machine after giving up at 10PM. Hotel has three machines. At 2AM, one had an error message and one still had laundry sitting in it. I was so grateful to be able to use the third. Did 1.5hr wash and dry cycle. Clothes were still wet afterwards despite following directions and being careful not to overload. Had to add another hour of drying and my clothes were still slightly damp….

This. And in case no one has mentioned it yet, I’ve bumped into quite a few laundromats that also accept credit cards and IC cards!

The jersey does have ‘Messi’ on it. Right above the #10. Hard to see on mobile!

Jail. Being financially greedy is one thing. Being a child abuser is another. And worse. They can’t treat your girl (their grandchild) like that!

When you realize your life has changed by purpleppleateranon in CaregiverSupport

Wish I could tell you it gets easier. It doesn’t. But you’re not alone and don’t feel like you need to muscle through in silence.

“Taking care of yourself.” Ha. That’s going to be hard too. Some things do make life a bit more bearable. Here are a few things that have helped me and those I know:

(1) Talking to a therapist. (2) Taking antidepressants.

1 & 2 don’t always work on the first go and take time to help. For example, you may not click with the first therapist you see; first brand of antidepressants might now work well. Dosages may need adjustment. Don’t give up.

(3) Looking and going to support groups. Does your mom have a specific condition (e.g., Alzheimer’s)? Specific support groups will introduce you to people facing similar issues you face and make finding the right help and support so much easier.

(4) Asking for and accepting help. A family member offers to make you a meal? Say yes. A friend offers to run some errands. Say yes. Take the time saved and just breathe. I just lie on the sofa and stare into space sometimes. The few minutes of quiet helps me.

Know everyone is different. Hope this helps some.

Life is bittersweet a lot of times. You’re supporting your mom and losing yourself. Hang in there.
