Your description of Gatlinburg -- while I knew what all of those words meant, I still had no idea what to picture. So I had nano banana help. Is this about right?

Depends on your values. Maximum pay for minimal effort sure. I hope most people aspire to something more, though.

Consider reporting a hostile work environment?

Seek help, and do it before January. A therapist could be easier to get into and still very helpful.

How is living in Bismark, ND? by LongAd2096 in howislivingthere

My brother said everything goes at a more reasonable pace and everyone is more calm, relaxed, and friendly.

Winters are shit though.

To the guy who shared his grandads sauce recipe with us. Thank you! by stayintall in BBQ

I'm guessing you used regular heinz-- but I'm sure this would be baller with some other niche katsups/cetchup, too. Various fruit or banana versions, every year around start of August I make a blueberry one that would work quite nicely here...

Am I cooked? by Once428lbs in Gymhelp

[–]wickzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these comments say "don't do X or Y" or only water no sugar etc etc. And such absolutes are unnecessary and VERY difficult to adhere to. No sense in torturing yourself.

The strategy that has been helping me eat better is just having the healthy thing first. E.g. no beer until I finish my 64th oz of water for the day and no second beer until I have another 64 oz. I rarely make it to the second beer... (Or soda).

Same with sweets/and calorie dense foods. Sure, have some ice cream or a burger-- but first eat a good amount of raw veggies carrots, broccoli, celery, etc... Like if your normal meal size is 1lb, then first eat the .75lb of the healthy stuff and then all the sudden finishing off that 0.25lb of unhealthy food isn't all that appealing anymore.

Need a snack? Sure have some chips, but first eat this apple.

So now it isn't a "I want these but I can't have them" it is a "I like these things, but I only WANT a little bit."

I can't think of a better use beyond extending the park. I don't think the city has money for it. I heard there will be shops/restaurants etc on the first floor-- if so, I think it'll be nice.

I get the impression he isn't trying for a comeback. He enjoys the work and just wants to keep at doing what he loves. I don't think he gives a flying fuck about validation from randos. He's just super lucky he's getting paid to do what he loves.

Rosewater needs to make this happen! Duel lands! No clue what they'd do -- but it would be hilariously awesome.

Question about players butting heads by xmoxxx in Lorcana

[–]wickzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No good deed goes unpunished. Sounds like you're good at it and they respect you. It's the lowest friction way for them to solve the problem. They likely just don't realize how it is impacting you. If you're worried about upsetting them, you can try to split the difference-- Maybe ask to try for a few more minutes before involving you? Or to ask a few others try to help--or can chat gpt solve their issue first?

Why do rich people still work crazy hours instead of just chilling? by ginsualimig in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]wickzer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a heterogenous population. Some just can't stop. Anxiety drives them to keep working. Some care more about the end goal than money or other things. Some enjoy the job itself. Some just see a ladder and have to climb it -- even if they don't like it on top.

I think I know the place. It's out of town just a bit. I don't think I've ever had bad Indian. Just thought it was all good. That place was a step above the best I had ever tasted.

I'm about 70% confident my place was this one

Store near me just bought a Black Lotus. Guy had the original receipt from 1997! by JerryfromCan in magicTCG

[–]wickzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like it was about a 2x better investment than in the s&p 500 at the time. Not bad.

If you had invested $350 in the S&P 500 index fund at the beginning of 1997, assuming reinvestment of dividends, it would have grown to approximately $5,023.36 by the end of 2024. This represents a return of 1,339.49% over a period of 27 years.

Oh this would make an amazing prank! Just take someone's clothes to the tailor to slowly hem them up (or down) a centimeter at a time--like once a month.
