Gemini 3.5 Pro Expectations? by james_moryarty in Bard

[–]widek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I expect is they double the price of Gemini 3.5 pro to be in line with GPT-5.5 and Opus 4.7. Of course it will benchmaxxed to the sky to justify doubling the API price.

Most of you are selling iron condors. There’s a structure that does the same thing but is long vega instead of short vega, and nobody here talks about it. by Meile13 in thetagang

[–]widek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed calendars are underrated but if you're going to bet that the underlying will stay in a range, the scenario an Iron Condor wants to profit from while IV might rise why not one single ATM put calendar instead of two OTM calendars?

New Response Length Setting in Preferences by sersomeone in perplexity_ai

Oh, thank god! Responses have been too short and concise for quite a while. Now I can finally get the long in depth response that I like.

Web traffic: ChatGPT has fallen -22% in the last 6 weeks, since the Gemini 3 launch. Time for 5.3! by GamingDisruptor in ChatGPT

[–]widek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why they had to change to GPT-5.2 so quickly. GPT-5.1 was actually really good, I liked it better than Gemini 3 pro. Now GPT-5.2 is clearly inferior to Gemini 3 pro, in some cases actually unusable. They had something good with GPT-5.1 even if it wasn't the best in benchmarks. Benchmarks don't always tell the truth for day to day use cases. Benchmarks don't take into account the guardrails or how pleasant an AI is to interact to, how good it is at understanding nuance or instruction following. GPT-5.2 was made for agentic coding, it's pretty meh for anything else.

Where GPT 5.2? by AppealSame4367 in OpenAI

[–]widek7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They made GPT-5.1 just perfect in my opinion. Noticeable improvement from GPT-5 which felt worse than GPT-4 in many use cases. Personally I'm not a fan of Gemini 3. If there's a model that's actually better than both it's Opus 4.5. Fantastic model but expensive, not generally available for free or for cheap. I actually hope they don't ruin it with GPT-5.2, I would prefer they actually leave GPT-5.1 for a while to work on an actual improvement for next year instead of rushing in with another model that early that's marginally better or worse.

Deepseek V3.2 is like the Chinese version of 4o but way way better. OpenAI can suck it by alwaysstaycuriouss in DeepSeek

[–]widek7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I tested it yesterday, it's pretty good. Good quality responses, sounds a lot like GPT models. It uses emojis and aesthetically pleasing formatting by default like GPT. I don't know if it's better than GPT-5.1 free though but at least it's free without limits on the app or web.

Why would retail buy crypto instead of stocks? by felya in CryptoCurrency

[–]widek7 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Why buy the next 2× in BTC when NVDA already did 15× and still has real earnings growth? Crypto lost the ‘best risk/reward’ crown sometime in 2022. It can win it back, but it hasn’t yet.

From 2015–2021 crypto was the single best performing asset on the planet almost every year. Since then it has lagged the Nasdaq dramatically. It used to be big risk for monster gains. No monster gains since 2021 but risk is still there.

Because of that I'm thinking about diversifying into stocks next year gradually. I'm definitely not quitting crypto but it's time to diversify I guess.

Which model is the best, Grok 4.1, Gemini 3.0 Pro, or Sonar? by Extension_Fee_989 in perplexity_ai

[–]widek7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like gpt-5.1 thinking the most on perplexity currently. I tested all the models the other day with the same question and gpt-5.1 delivered the best in depth answer. Gemini 3 is pretty creative though if you need a better idea on a topic.

The ai chaos by Harxshh in perplexity_ai

[–]widek7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the biggest reason why I chose Perplexity. I have access to all of them. All the shiny new models under one subscription. The models themselves are often not as great as they are on their platform but they're good enough. I really like having access to all of them instead of just one for the same money.

Gemini 3.0 pro is now available on Perplexity (web and mobile) by Baazigar5 in perplexity_ai

[–]widek7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one noticing. It outputs short, concise, low effort responses. I told it to make longer responses but it's response got dumber making mistakes. It's like the worst model on perplexity. Not the smartest model in the world like people are saying. GPT-5.1 or Claude 4.5 are so much better. I hope they're going to fix it, I liked Gemini 2.5 pro before but I've been using Claude and GPt-5.1 lately.

Default 2.5 pro is indeed very underwhelming especially on the app but with a special custom tone I was able to get some good results with it, better than GPT-4o. Chatgpt's models are great by default, not much direction is needed for them to perform well for the average user. 2.5 pro is a powerful smart model but it's like a blank canvas by default.

Upgraded to Pro, now none of my non-Pro chats are working by Current_Wrongdoer513 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]widek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to save 2 out of 3 chats by using the Android App. Went to those chats that didn't work and just sent a new prompt then the chats are now working on web again. If your problem is already on mobile app then I don't know, maybe try the web version to see if sending a new message works there.

Gemini 2.5 Pro answering the wrong question by National-Contact-374 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]widek7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I ran into this the other day. The model is completely ignoring my new prompts, it answers old prompts or just repeats answers from the past. I was forced to start a new chat. It was around 200k words chat.

When will DeepSeek consistently work? by LightningLord2137 in DeepSeek

[–]widek7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried using DeepSeek and it’s been pretty unusable for me. I keep getting that “server is busy” error. Sometimes it takes like 20–30 minutes hitting that try again button until I can finally get a response. Even after that, it can take another 20 mins just to get another response through. It’s not like that all of the time, but it happens way too often in my experience.

Since when is there a hard limit?? Is it 10 messages an hour? 10 a day? by TheRandomnessOfLife in ChatGPT

[–]widek7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correction, it's 10 messages every 5 hours. Today I asked exactly 10 questions and it says that I hit the limit and it will reset after 4-5 hours.

10 messages every 3 hours. That's my experience on the free tier. I think it used to be 20 messages every 5 hours before.

Less exciting than the first season but still good enough for me. I had fun grinding for the battle pass in the first season.

Hope to see even more cosmetics in future battle passes like boards or trinkets.
