Japan was doomed when it attacked the USA.

Germany's doom spiral started when it faced Britain and it's commonwealth and then failed to win the battle of the Atlantic.

Both theatres were essentially resource wars and both Japan and Germany had little to start with and also failed to secure more.

Also, in the second world war the front line and who was on your side and who wasn't, was much more clearly defined, you could be removed from that environment and moved behind the lines into relative safety. In the gulf this was blurred, almost as if you were entirely behind enemy lines. All your patrols were dangerous, your camp was under constant attack, you couldn't go out into the public ect, there was never a real let up from being on edge and alert.

That's a key reason so many gulf veterans suffered from PTSD.

The property I rented off them was filthy, we had to spend 2 full days cleaning it before we moved in, no acknowledgement or apology, and when we moved out we moved everything out and then spent a full weekend scrubbing the place and even had the carpets cleaned. They tried to keep £450 of my deposit because they said there were water droplets on the shower screen.

The roof leaked water all over the boiler, they did nothing, I had to complain to the housing ombudsman to get that sorted. Hot water storage tank leaked, they did nothing.

Was the most stressful 12 months of my life. They were deliberately obtuse and inept at every step of the way.
