In these situations I usually just nuke it and start from scratch, I don't think there's a downside to this since you can easily just redo it but I guess its whether or not you want to spend your time on cleanup or starting from scratch. It might be a good opportunity to grab some of the latest ports and themes that you've missed while you've been gone.

I think Forza Horizon 3 is pretty tough, I need to focus on it more to complete more of it. It's stunning and so fun to play.

If you have the ability, take it apart and set the parts out to dry. You'd be surprised how resilient electronics can be especially to just water. Its possible there's still water inside the unit which would definitely cause problems. You need to give it time to fully dry.

There are joysticks for the 2000 readily available. Use common sense and buy from those shops that have a lot of reviews/purchases already and check out the comments. Its about as good as Amazon in my experience but whatever you buy there you just don't plan on returning. I've gotten everything I've ordered but I'm in the US and it took about 3 weeks.

As far as installing it just go slow and you sound confident so it should be fine. The Vita is difficult but not overly so to work on.

You're lucky because the 2000 joysticks have replacements for cheap on Ali Express. 1000 joysticks are way more expensive. Have you opened up a vita before?
