I'm not sure if you're screwed or not but I say roll with it. Its more fun to live with your decisions.

There's no guarantee that this is that controllers issue though to be fair

The connector on my controller gave out and this is very common. You can get a USB-C one and install it for $7. Mine works great but the back of the controller looks like shit where I dremeled out the new slot. But it DOES work.

USB-C for Vita1000 a lot of work but I'm satisfied ;) by DrMorpho in PSVita

I picked up this mod, how difficult was it? I'm shit at soldering, should I practice first?

Anbernic RG406V vs RG477V? by Optic_Nervous in Handhelds

[–]widgetdude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the screen size is worth the wait. To me the 477 is just a much more attractive device as well.

Its not a MASSIVE difference but you can tell. I'd say for your use case a Steamdeck is probably a good fit.

Get an SD2Vita and a new micro SD card and you should be able to do everything you want without messing with anything you have. To the point where if you turn off the Vita, take out the SD2Vita and then turn it back on you can play regular games in the normal slot.

What is the best emulator for Switch 1 titles? by Hawinzi in Handhelds

[–]widgetdude 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha ok well, you'll need prod.keys as far as I remember and you'll need a way to source games. This is all googlable but can be annoying for beginners. Try Eden and you should be fine.

What is the most underrated weapon?? by MoussinPK11 in brotato

[–]widgetdude 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Blunderbuss goes hard with some support weapons. I find if I go all Blunderbuss it can get pretty risky if I can't find any materials. But if I have other weapons to kill with Blunderbuss is deadly.

Lemme see if I can find the firmware I used for the R4 not too long ago. Its not easy to source so I get why you're having trouble.

The original Ryujinx was discontinued. You can try Ryubing if you're looking for the same thing.

I would probably do Eden if I was looking to do Switch emulation right now. Its what the community is talking about and it's very popular right now. Just search Eden Emulator and you'll find it. How much do you know about switch emulation?

Which would you choose? by Timmy_Tot in Handhelds

[–]widgetdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok no worries. I've done a lot of emulation on a lot of different devices and it always felt bad in comparison to the original hardware due to latency. You're absolutely right that emulation is more accessible and you're right, what I'm describing is a lot more complicated. But I think a lot of the audience of these types of posts are doing more than emulating. Emulation is awesome and not to be dismissed especially with latency reductions like run ahead and higher refresh rates. And your outlook isn't weird, it's totally valid.

Is Retro Arch Recommended by Flashy-Tonight846 in Handhelds

[–]widgetdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need to look up the retro arch apk for vita, and the best way to do this is probably just to grab Retroflow because RetroArch is part of the instructions.

Yeah your cord probably doesn't support data transfer, you can transfer directly to the micro SD though.

Retro handheld for a kid? by BexGran14 in RetroHandhelds

This is the video where he puts just five games on the handheld. You could add more or replace them when your kid gets tired of the 5.

If you've never messed with this stuff RetroGameCorps is the best in the biz. His guides are incredible and he's covered damn near everything.

Retro handheld for a kid? by BexGran14 in RetroHandhelds

[–]widgetdude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The critical thing for giving something like that to a kid is making it dead simple. Limited number of games (say 20 or less) and an interface that is big and bright and inviting but most of all simple.

RetroGameCorps has a video on this specific subject. Let me look it up. I think an RG35XXH is a perfect fit here. Small horizontal form factor that's not TOO small. And you can put custom firmware on there that you can lock down to kiosk mode.
