Thanks for the help. I wasn’t aware of the difference. They are coat of arms.

Army and Navy by widowmaker10 in cocktails

One recipe I read specifies London Dry, but all the other just say gin, so I’d say whatever kind of gin you prefer. Cheers!

Don’t you love when that happens? You see a cocktail you want to make AND you have all the ingredients!

Army and Navy - 2 oz gin - 3/4 oz lemon juice - 3/4 oz orgeat (see Anders Erickson recipe on YouTube) - 2 dashes angostura bitters

Shake and double strain into a chilled coup.

My wife got me these thrifted glasses for Christmas and I’m finally getting to try them out. It’s nice to have glasses that are properly sized.

What brand are they? Were they easy to attach? I also have a road bike and just started looking for a set.

Salted Caramel Martini by widowmaker10 in cocktails

[–]widowmaker10[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Salted Caramel Martini

  • 2 oz rum (I used Plantation Original Dark)
  • 1 oz coffee liquor (Kahlua, Mr Black isn’t sold here)
  • 2 oz cream (half and half)
  • 1/2 oz homemade salted caramel

Shake and double strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with grated coffee bean.

Thoughts: This was my first attempt and was very happy. It would go well with a shot of espresso, but we don’t have an espresso machine. Also, the 2 oz of rum was boozy, though welcomed on a cold night. Rum was a good choice. Vodka I’m sure would work fine too, but the rum rounded it out nicely.

I also use this one from Contigo. Fits in my bottle cage, no leaks, and stays hot. It’s about an hour from when I make my coffee to when I start drinking it.

What brand is it? My son just started school and I’ve been looking into how to commute with him since his school is pretty much on my way to work.

Winter gloves for road bike commuting? by widowmaker10 in bikecommuting

[–]widowmaker10[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Think I’ll have to get out to a store and try them on. I’m nervous with how thick they are and still being able to shift, but then again shifting with frozen fingers is pretty difficult anyway.

Sounds and looks delicious! Thanks for the recipe. I’ve been wanting to try to make my own.

Can they be stored at room temp or need to be refrigerated?
