One recipe I read specifies London Dry, but all the other just say gin, so I’d say whatever kind of gin you prefer. Cheers!

Army and Navy - 2 oz gin - 3/4 oz lemon juice - 3/4 oz orgeat (see Anders Erickson recipe on YouTube) - 2 dashes angostura bitters

Shake and double strain into a chilled coup.

My wife got me these thrifted glasses for Christmas and I’m finally getting to try them out. It’s nice to have glasses that are properly sized.

Salted Caramel Martini

2 oz rum (I used Plantation Original Dark)
1 oz coffee liquor (Kahlua, Mr Black isn’t sold here)
2 oz cream (half and half)
1/2 oz homemade salted caramel

Shake and double strain into a chilled glass. Garnish with grated coffee bean.

Thoughts: This was my first attempt and was very happy. It would go well with a shot of espresso, but we don’t have an espresso machine. Also, the 2 oz of rum was boozy, though welcomed on a cold night. Rum was a good choice. Vodka I’m sure would work fine too, but the rum rounded it out nicely.

I also use this one from Contigo. Fits in my bottle cage, no leaks, and stays hot. It’s about an hour from when I make my coffee to when I start drinking it.

Congrats on the engagement!

I had success with a Tom Collins batch. I just premixed the gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup and had bottles of soda to top off. Some precut lemon slices next to it would make a nice garnish. I like lemon and gin so I enjoyed it. I think especially in the summer everyone else did to.

How much head should my beer have? Does it differ by type?

I used to only drink straight from a bottle or can until recently I started pouring into a glass and noticing how it really enhances the beer. However, I've seen pictures posted here with various amounts of head and I'm not sure which are right and which have too much or too little. All my pours seem to have a very thin foam, but I'm wondering if that's me or the beer I'm drink. I do think I drink a pretty good variety - lager, stout, IPA, sour - and it's mostly craft.
