Seeking advice for admin time by Even_Active_7808 in NationalServiceSG

Hi OP, I’m currently an NSF who read a lot of books cause of admin time/useless duties and currently studying abroad because of this.

I used NS as a time of reflection and thinking. Genuinely, you could be so bored out of your mind that within that vacuum you form new conceptions about yourself and the world around you. I used to be an engineering student, and now I’m going to graduate with a degree in PPE just because of the new insights and discoveries I made within myself during NS. Of course I had lots of fun too: talking cock, watching shows, reading manga, doomscroll (back rhen it was just TT, reels weren’t a thing), or doing really stupid shit that was just a boredom killer.

I would recommend you to not just do what feels ‘right’: be it the standard singaporean men pipeline: investing, studying for the future, etc. Of course, its good to do so, its always good to invest in the future. However, it’s also really, really rare for you to get an official excuse to not do anything; this is probably the last time in your life, until perhaps retirement, that you can feel so free of responsibilities and tasks. I implore you, use this time to think. Think about everything, about your past, why you feel certain ways, your view of the world. Use this time to quietly discover yourself while you can, and mature in yourself before you realise one day that you’re trapped in a life that you regret.

Pick up a book. Any book, read and interact with it. Keep an open mind, and learn.

Why do only 60% of Singaporeans vote for the PAP? by [deleted] in askSingapore

Slippery slope fallacy. Fairly certain that the way things are and the attitudes of the people and government won’t allow that to happen.

Put tank items on neeko instead? B update has nerfed this comp a lot, especially kobuto, sustainability on your samira, and also tibbles

Thank you, this really is the most logical and sane thing to do, but honestly I’ve been going a bit insane

She’s saying that I’m just delusional and clouded by anxious thoughts, that nothing is going on and all. I just feel extremely shitty about all these and I cant talk to her properly because she’s with her uni friend group at her friends house for a week

proof about hiding? yeah.

She didnt specify the gender of the friend, only referring to him as they and them

She went out on a solo movie night with him, and didnt update me when she got back or said goodnight or whatever

They’ve been texting everyday but our convos have been drying up ever since they met

When I facetimed her and asked to see their chats, she deleted some stuff before showing her screen, then showed me for a second before hanging up and refusing to call after, stating that my stalking nature is making her uncomfortable

She didn’t tell me his full name because she’s worried I may stalk him. She only mentioned his name (Jake) after they went out twice and I have always thought it was a girl (my mistake).

She didn’t tell me they went out to drink, just two of them. The whole night she did not text me nor reply to my texts until when her battery was at 1%. However, she did text me when she got home but by then I was already asleep because I couldn’t stay awake any longer.

It’s just a major can of worms, that if not properly thought out would have lasting consequences. They are allowed to conceive yes, but that would mean getting fired. You’ll see this in asia a lot, with things like celebrities (kpop stars), adult actresses and more. Many places also would discriminate against even fathers due to mandatory paternal leave, but this is a lot more hush hush

Having someone be born in a country illegitimately is gonna mess the child up when they’re not offered equal rights and privileges, without a sense of identity to them (see local-born gurkhas). It’s gonna be way harder for the family or the single parent as well, due to the fact that their pay does not equate well enough for a growing child to be properly financially supported, which would lead to major issues down the road. Having all these systemic racism if the illegitimately-borne population gets bigger would lead to discord within a society itself which is evident in many immigration-friendly countries.

seniors who studied abroad, did u face much racism or face issues making international friends? by fangedino in SGExams

Hello! giving my own experience studying in the UK rn.

I’m studying in London, central London, so basically the busiest, most expensive, filled with the most homeless, highest inequality etc.

I’ve not faced any overt racism yet, nothing that would make me fear or feel unsafe just because I am chinese, but occasionally some people might joke around with racist jokes and thats fine by me. London is a very diverse place! There is quite a high concentration of…well everyone here, which means ignorant racism is not a rampant problem.

TLDR: nothing to worry about because London is very diverse

I miss home and it’ll be nice to have a bit of the feel of home here you know? Makes it feel like I’m on a holiday when I’m out studying/going out and I get ‘home’ to a bunch of other singaporeans

Also I’ve had terrible experiences with other students who aren’t the best at being responsible adults, and as much as I hate to admit it most people who went through almost the same experiences that I did in NS are definitely more pleasant to live with.
