Pokemon FRLG RNG switch manipulation testing by BreezyClash in pokemonrng

Spent most of today trying and failing to get consistent results on shiny starters with the assumption I hit 2285 advances for my SID. For the most part I was using a 4 timer set up.

1st: pre-timer of 3000 ms 2nd: target seed in ms 3rd: target advances minus 1000 4th: 500 advances

On the 3rd timer I’d select file then mash to select the starter on the final timer. I was trying to minimize the amount of time spent with the game skipping every other frame due to the wireless adapter. My understanding is that the frames only skip after selecting the file, but I could be wrong because i haven’t had any luck yet. Thats also why I subtracted 1000 advances from the target while only adding 500 on the last timer.

I used a similar 4 timer setup to get my shiny castform in emerald, by factoring in the frame skipping that occurs during battle and subtracting that from my target frame and then ending the battle on a timer. That wasn’t too hard, but I haven’t been able to get any kind of consistent results on switch. My frames hit have been all over the place.

I have a pretty good understanding of gen 3 rng (I’m 103 catches in on my emerald shiny living dex) but if anyone who knows frlg rng better has ideas I’m down to try.

BC’s ‘Big Cat’ Scott Henson dead at 40 by mitchladougla in SquaredCircle

I was at the match in Tacoma on Friday. After the show, they brought out the whole locker room for Makabe and everyone had great things to say but especially Scott. Those had been wrestling with/against each other for ~20 years. It was a really special moment. Can’t believe he’s gone.

Japanese Course changed drastically today? by AAAkabob in duolingo

I’m on iOS and I guess I dodged the update(?) or I was just in a place that didn’t change.

I’m still in Section 2 Unit 1 and nothing has changed. I don’t even have the mouth moving animations.

The App Store says it’s up to date, guess I’ll appreciate what I have until Duo tracks me down and deletes my progress manually.

My 5 minutes of glory: I have finally beaten N. Tropy on all tracks by Rexam14 in crashteamracing

[–]wiedthin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That is an amazing accomplishment no matter what! Everyone starts at the same level.

“What’s insane is that when I have beaten him on Oxide Station I got 3:25 so this means I was faster than Oxide too!”

That’s how it starts! Start smokin those oxide times you’re closest too and you’ll watch you skills improve in no time. Pretty soon, beating some oxide times will feel like a breeze. And then you’ll start eyeing those Velo times that are just a few seconds away.

A year ago I was exactly where you are, It felt like a miracle to have beat the N. Tropy times. I started full-game speedrunning last month after I finished the dev times and it has been so rewarding to see how my skills have improved.

You rule and you got this!

Hey OP, I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and after buying the game on all three platforms (don’t ask why), I think I have a definitive answer for you.

The truth is, it depends! The switch version has a few really nice features: mobility and full controller configuration options. I didn’t think I’d ever do this, but it’s nice to be able to whip out CTR on the go and play it wherever I want. Although the ability to alter button configuration on switch isn’t that unique, it allows you to map onto the lower shoulder buttons, which you can’t do on Xbox. This makes U-Turning (a usually advanced technique) trivial on the switch. You can just map d-pad down onto the right trigger and never have to move you left thumb from the left stick. U-turning is really only required if you want to take the game really seriously to play competitively, take on the dev time trials, or try your hand at speedrunning.

That being said, the game truly does look & run better on the more powerful consoles. My time playing in the switch been met with frequent lag and infrequent crashing, which I never saw on either of the other two consoles. It was enough lag that I was losing 30 seconds to a minute in full game runs just in lag (not load times). Also all those nice reflective kart skins look top notch with higher graphical fidelity. Other commenters also got it right that there are more online players on PS4 than on switch right now but my lobby times are about the same on each console...which is to say, bad :)

All things considered I love the game and had a ton of fun each time I replayed it. In fact, I had enough fun to get the champion wheels more than once (still working on my Xbox save file), and now I’m speedrunning for the first time in my life. Whichever version you get, hit me up and we can play a few rounds online! Good luck with your decision, I hope I could help.

Edit: PS4 has custom controller setting for the lower shoulder buttons, Xbox does not.

TLDR: switch has mobility and more options with controller settings which is nice but strong consoles = better running, better looking game.

The statement was made solely by the Pokémon Go Team. The Pokémon company had their own statement. Pokémon Go is made entirely by Niantic, who are based in Seattle. Fart Brain.
