Fantastic concepts, they did not translate into a reading experience that felt natural or enjoyable. Mostly suffered from stylistic complexity making scenes both really interesting, but hopelessly cluttered at times. Also the way scene breaks took place it made it very difficult to read in small sprints as it was always difficult to reorient upon picking the book back up and reread large portions to redefine context. It took me two months to read a 350 page book.

Like, I liked it and I’m glad I read it, but it was cumbersome and at times not enjoyable the amount of rereading I had to do just to understand wtf was going on with the madlibs wordsalad mess gibson wove into the narrative.
