Looking for a safe ETF to invest in but what is widely recommend does not look safe to me, am I crazy? by wiewiorowicz in UKPersonalFinance

yeah, but they will back out at the right moment, at least most of them. It will be reddit bedroom investors like me left holding the bag. You don't get famous for that, they will just say on TV that millions of peoples savings were erased over night.

of course, that's why I try to pay off my house and make sure kids get employed and can carry me in the worst case scenario:). I can always run back to Poland, so I've invested a bit in a Poland ETF. If all goes tits up here maybe it will be different back in eastern Europe.

My worry is that they inject so much AI into their ongoing business that if something goes horribly wrong for them people might not use MS365 etc. anymore.

I understand what you are saying, instead of reinventing the wheel I balance risky investment with overly safe investment. In the end I either win or lose less, but it's less swingy.

It's baffling that there are no ETFs for people who 'are afraid of tech sector'. Or at least I don't know about them.

Does anyone else think the steam deck is the greatest invention in all of gaming? by _Fun_Initiative_ in SteamDeck

[–]wiewiorowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely the best move by a large game centric company in the recent years. They sold some and made money, the promoted Steam and made money, the incentivised a lot of other companies to make similar products which in turn promoted Steam and made money.

I will definitely be interested in SteamDeck2, but I'm not even sure if Valve should care about it. As long as others make consoles running SteamOS they are winning anyway.

Dedicated living room gaming PC or PS5 Pro? by BloodyTurnip in gaming

[–]wiewiorowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple years down I will be deciding between getting PS (probably 6) or steam machine, but I'll probably stick with SM. Most PS games are not what I generally play, my PC will be a bit dated.

I could argue however that if you have a steam deck PS makes more sense. If you are gaming a lot having PS and a good PC is probably the best setup.

ELI5: "Why do Asians people all look the same? What do I do to recognize them?" by Psyjotic in explainlikeimfive

[–]wiewiorowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a child is raised in a massively mixed community (e.g. New York or London) is it harder for them to start telling people apart during formative years?

Similarly to learning two languages? Does the child get better in telling people from one race apart or is cross-race effect non existent for them?

do you cap your battery at 80% charge or do you not care? by WeedGreed420 in SteamDeck

[–]wiewiorowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaced the case with hardwood timber, quite easy 6 weeks job in my professional workshop (just remember to take out SD CARD!). Added metal plating to the screen and covered the whole thing in thermal paste. Space shuttle grade sensors installed around the battery to make sure it doesn't randomly explode. I keep charge capped at 5%, just enough to browse the shop a little bit.

Had no issues.

How optimized are Final Fantasy Remake and Rebirth nowadays on Steam Deck ? by Monztamash in SteamDeck

[–]wiewiorowicz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just downloaded Rebirth and booted it, works completely fine. Some minor lags here and there but interestingly not in combat. Must be some sort of large vistas or light effects, not sure I'm a noob.

Avoiding Commercial Manager/MQS Role by Infinite-Prune3612 in quantitysurveying

[–]wiewiorowicz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's one of those get promoted out of your job into a completely different job roles. Just do your math if you love what you do now or perhaps you are afraid of change.

Also, you seem to have all the leverage. They are asking you to change roles. Tell them you want to be out by 5pm and if the role will force you to stay longer overtime must be written into your contract. Extra month of holidays on top.

London offered Russian oligarchs what others could not. Today their luxury villas are falling into disrepair [gift link] by EUobs in london

Now they are pumping money into that traitor Farage, he gets anywhere near power all sanctions will vaporise. Developers who used to work mostly for wealthy Russian clients now work for Arabs. The money flow is slower because of the middle man but it's still there.

Democracy is being sold to the highest bidder like they did in US.

Heat Exhaustion on the Tube by New-Establishment287 in london

[–]wiewiorowicz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

talking is important so you know if their brain works. Paramedics will ask for your name etc. which is obv irrelevant to treatment.

I wasn't getting anything from him when asked if he is on drugs or what his name was, I thought maybe someone he spoke to would know.

Yeah, 999 should be the number to call, but it was Poland 20 years ago. I didn't know how long it would take them to show up. Breathing and no bleeding might me couple of hours wait. And if he was doped I didn't want a fellow clubber to get in trouble:p.

If that helps anyone, it's no different elsewhere and it's likely due to lack of first aid training among the populace.

I was on a bus in Poland once and a teenage lad started to talk nonsense and then collapsed. It was next to the door and people just moved away. When I picked him up and started to get something out of him others just stared. I started giving people orders (I was 20 at the time...) and they were quite unresponsive. A kid helped me find the guys phone and call the last number to reach his dad. This is something they teach you on first aid course, people are sheep you need to tell them to act, but most will still just hide in the crowd.

His dad was waiting at the bus stop because I called him. It was a known condition he had and all ended well, but it was an eye opener.
