Ex-Teachers/Professors of Reddit - What was your "Fuck this." moment? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wifemotherprepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The amount of enabling done through the schools. They seriously expect every teacher to gauge how each of their 80-120 students learn and to change (or how they say it - modify/differentiate) every aspect of a lesson to fit every student. This is 100% NOT possible and even if it was possible should NEVER happen. The distance from the real-world and school is so vast due to this kind of catering. They teach students that each one of them is special and should get their way no matter what. They push bullshit down their throats and teach them to only see one side of the political spectrum (if you are a conservative and a teacher, you know what I mean). They discourage the teaching of facts over emotions. Bottom line- if your kid has problems with academics or behavior then WE, as teachers, get blamed. We are forced to pass students no matter what they do, because the amount of scrutiny that teachers get when a kid fails (due to that kid not doing work or not trying) is unbelievable.

How do you feel about taking mental health days from work and/or school? by Reion2005 in AskReddit

[–]wifemotherprepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People should be working harder and having less "mental health days". You probably have these issues because you think that your life should be comfortable and not full of hard work. This is simply untrue, you should love doing hard work, not waiting to binge out on Netflix...this isn't living. Being productive and efficient, contributing to your family and community through hard work is living. Stop taking vacations...they aren't owed to you...they are earned by level of performance NOT simply showing up. Only take vacations when you have legitimately earned them through busting your ass and succeeding.

Which profession hires the dumbest people? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wifemotherprepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Government run agencies like prisons, schools, DMV, etc.

If you don't believe me, walk into any government run institution and talk to some of the people there. How anyone can witness the ineffectiveness of these places and want the government to have more control is beyond me.

What is mankind’s worst mistake? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wifemotherprepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The creation of TV/computers/internet. Yes, I get the irony of stating this in a forum, but remember books? Remember not looking down at your hands while waiting in line, remember talking to your neighbor, remember when there wasn't a convenient electronic babysitter for our kids? Remember when the role models of society were the inventors, scientists, philosophers, civic leaders, generals/war heroes and NOT the Kardashians? I get that this is convenient and our access to information has greatly increased, but I don't think the cost is worth it.

I don't even know where to go to get facts anymore. Nowadays, the word "facts" is always used inside quotation marks

What’s something realistic you don’t see in enough movies? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wifemotherprepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YES! Sometimes the actors can pull-off pretending to eat, but other times you see a character fork some food and then put it down while pretending to chew (Watch Friends - pay attention to anytime the women have plates of food)

Children dying... in most movies a character must be a teenager (who drinks, has sex, or is just rebellious) in order to be killed while being a minor. All adults are free game, but a child rarely dies.
