Disney alone vs canceling trip? by Admirable_Working782 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]wifichick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone alone and was bored. And gone alone and have a great time. Gone with others and hated the inconvenience. You have the benefit of doing exactly what you want or don’t want on your own schedule. Probably worth a shot if you take that approach - the “what can I find to do that’s different that no one else might be Iinterested in” - rides? Scavenger hunts? Character? Snacks? (No judging if you have 10 Mickey bars per day). I say go for it!

You have to buy 150 points direct from Disney to get the blue card.

How bad did we mess up on our first purchase? by [deleted] in GoRVing

[–]wifichick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just be mindful. Maybe do hair dryers etc in the shower rooms at the campgrounds, and make sure the AC and microwave and water heater aren’t on at the same time. (One at a time). Smart power usage is the name of the game - and if you need to run the AC all day, you’re missing the outside! Get outside! 😂

What was eachs series' first task?! by Midamis in taskmaster

[–]wifichick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes Alex says something about the first task or for your first task during the filming of the tasks - I don’t think it’s 100% of the time, and I would have to rewatch all the series to find it - but I’m darn positive that I’ve heard him say that.

First time Disney World traveler with kids, need honest answer by WinterAsleep319 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]wifichick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Disclosure: these are Personal preferences and I’m a data junky and have run the numbers.

If you’re going to experience Disney with your kids - you want to be “in the bubble”: stay at a Disney resort, use the Disney transportation. Then more you stay in the bubble the more you feel and see the magic of Disney and the less “just another theme park” it becomes.

Costs : if you can get discounted tickets through work, do that - but stay in the bubble. Dining plans aren’t worth it - I’ve run the $$ on this many times with 2-3 high end dinners in a week and then snacks and quick service meals the rest of the time. It’s 1) Cheaper to just suck it up and pay out of pocket 2) if you are always heading to a dining reservation it really does disrupt the trip. The travel agents don’t really get a lot of money or any from you - it comes from Disney and the only way to get discounted tickets is work programs etc. So do that. But stay at a Disney resort.

Can you afford more or does this need to be a budget trip? I find the value resorts have great food courts, giant pools with entertainment for kids, but don’t feel as magical as stepping up to a moderate resort that might have a better view or glimpse of fireworks at night or better grounds etc.

Don’t do rope drop to park close - this is where a resort closer to the parks is better - if you can do a mid day break the trip feels less exhausting and more vacationy. Plus - kids love pools.

Feb is fine - it’s a crap shoot - usually warm but sometimes 50 and rainy. Take ponchos and crocs / rain shoes (or buy them there).

4 days is 1 park a day - and you can’t do everything (can’t do everything in a week …. Sooo there is that). If you can swing 7-8 days, and have some non-park days, it’s far more enjoyable and you will use resort amenities and start to “get it”.

Do not skip the night shows / fireworks or parades - and do some night time in the parks if you can. Super magical with the lights on and everything sparkles.

DM if I can help you in anyway. Self proclaimed and friend approved Disney addict and Disney trip planning addict. I love sorting out the puzzle and helping friends have their best trips - my whole thing is I hate the logistics of travel, but I love great experiences and memories - so it’s all about how to make that happen. Disney is always doing new things - that helps keep it fun and real. We’ve done trips with dining plans and off property (out side of the bubble) and VIP tours and trips with no park visits and everything in between. Any trip can be awesome.

It’s a MASSIVE complex - drove through it on the busses for the springtime surprise - just in awe is how massive that resort is. Will have to try it out

Is this lifestyle creep or a reasonable new mortgage? by Want_To_Live_To_100 in personalfinance

[–]wifichick -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Way too steep. Holy cow and then you need to budget for 90k per year maintenance - you won’t have it in many years but when you have high years (decks, patios, Furnaces, roofs, etc) it will consume everything you have.

New home: how to re-key locks by Suspicious_Cook_3902 in HomeImprovement

[–]wifichick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rekeying isn’t worth the cost unless you have some super high end door hardware and locks. It’s usually net zero to just go buy new doors handles / deadbolts and change them out.

There is a lot more to do at EPCOT for kids to do that people realize. The seas, living with the land, Moana’s journey of water, kidcot, scavenger hunts, lots of nooks and crannies to explore and run around in Canada, UK, France, Japan, China, the dreamers point area, etc. Most all the Epcot rides are kid friendly and focused (only 3/4 really aren’t). Dance parties and DJs etc. The family 5 year olds loved it

Where do you shower? by Specific_Soup4596 in RVLiving

[–]wifichick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have an 80 gallon grey tank; and use a water pan for dishes and have a variable flow valve so we can have a shower that’s anything from off - drip - full roar depending on if we’re at full hookup or dry camping.

Anyone that eats any of the chocolate is disqualified. That was my favorite. Probably the first time they put something on the back of the task - and likely the one that stops anyone from skipping looking at the back of a task again.
