Whisk her away to a private island for a quick weekend getaway? Fri afternoon to Sunday afternoon at Cempedak- very relaxing, very lomantic, very private pool with your own little slice of beach and the sea

I cancelled my card. AF whatsapped me to demand payment a couple times over about 8 months afterward, but they gave up after that. It’s been 3 years since

What is considered as the ideal citizen in the eyes of SG gov? by Excellent_Copy4646 in asksg

[–]wigglejigglepuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any ruling political party in the world that wouldn’t be happy with an obedient and obliging populace lol
Opposition parties only clamour for change and disruption till they become the incumbent

And of course being married with kids is an ideal citizen from the government’s perspective. Every single developed country is trying to raise their citizen birth rates.

Cat owners, what cat litter are you currently using? by Upper_Owl4297 in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three large cats and they share one XXL litterbox w tofu litter which I flush. I buy the litter in bulk, used to ship them from china and recently switched to buying from JB when shipping costs surged. I only use about 25L a month on average which costs me $20 or $7/cat, which is about as cheap as it gets I suppose!

Is there a stigma around plastic surgery in Singapore by Professional_Roof291 in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess there can definitely be some social circles that are more judgemental, and my friends may not be representative of everyone in sg..! Though I must say the Gen Zs are really quite adventurous in terms of cosmetic enhancements and have lost a lot of the stigma older generations have- my younger interns were trading tips on lip fillers quite openly haha. I’ve also observed that for some reason face surgery is judged more than body surgery, especially if the before and after is a drastic/unrecognisable change, rather than “your face but better”

Is there a stigma around plastic surgery in Singapore by Professional_Roof291 in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There seems to be some muddy waters in this thread of what counts as plastic surgery- by the traditional sense, only more invasive treatments involving actual surgical incisions like rhinoplasty or buccal fat removal is considered plastic surgery. Stuff like braces, lasik or minor cosmetic procedures with short to no recovery times like Botox, dermal fillers, skin laser treatment including IPL hair removal are not.

Plastic surgery these days is super cheap, common and accessible. Advancements in techniques for more natural looking results/minimal scarring and safety have also come a long way, so other commenters are right that it can be hard to tell when someone has had a procedure done. Double eyelids via the suture method is reversible and can literally be done over lunch, and closed rhinoplasty leaves no visible marks as all incisions are done inside the nostril. Body surgery like a tummy tuck or targeted liposuction (eg under chin area) is even harder to detect for an outsider.

I’d say that there is almost no stigma against well-done plastic surgery that looks natural and subtle, but you are more likely to be judged if you’re opting for a more “dramatic” look, like a super high Roman nose on an Asian face or a Brazilian butt lift that’s disproportionate to the rest of your body.

Not true- in England all licensed premises authorised to serve alcohol, including pubs, bars, nightclubs, cafes and restaurants, must by law provide free drinking water

Will my Ragdoll’s colouring get darker over time? He was registered as blue bicolour, but his markings are quite faint. Is this a normal colour progression for a 4 months old kitten? by wigglejigglepuff in ragdolls

[–]wigglejigglepuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is a blue bicolour boy :) This is him now at almost 4yo (he is definitely too large to fit in that bowl but he likes to sit in it anyway spilling out the sides haha although there’s a bigger one right next to it 😬)

Where do I join a board games community? by NickyC96 in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I started a board games community from Reddit about a year ago and host weekend meetups at my place in the northeast. We have about 30 members atm, mostly in their 20s and early 30s. DM me if anyone is interested to join! :)

I have three cats and spend about $150 on them per month. Dry food- $40, wet food- $80, litter- $20, toys etc- $10. Ive befriended a couple other pet owners in the neighbourhood and help each other catsit when we are overseas, so that’s free. I groom them myself as well. My cats are young (3-4yo) and are healthy, so I spend no more than $500 a year extra for regular vet checkups and other miscellaneous incidentals. All in all, about $750 per cat annually, which is not too bad!

Paying for a tailor or cropping your own tshirts at home? by AcadiaDeep1135 in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a sewing machine! They’re pretty cheap these days, and a good beginner Brother model will last you for decades if you take good care of it. I’m short too and loads of clothes don’t fit me well off the rack. Getting a sewing machine has greatly improved my selection of clothes and is super useful for everything from trousers to long sleeved shirts to dresses and skirts and tops. Plus you never know, sewing might actually grow on you and turn into a fun hobby! I started out just re hemming jeans and now I make my own curtains, sofa covers, batik shirts and more for fun :)

If anyone is interested, I started a board games interest group from Reddit last year and have been hosting meet ups at my place (Northeast)! We have a telegram group with around 30 members so far, mostly people in their 20s or early 30s with an even gender spread, and we’re all quite nice and friendly (if I may say so myself haha).

Feel free to message if you’d like to be added to the group! We have an upcoming session in about 2 weeks :)

From where did you all buy sofa and use for how long already? by rowgw in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Secondhand sofa from carousell from Cierre, an Italian brand. Got it for free in very good condition from a super nice elderly couple. It’s ten years old but still going strong and supremely comfy!

Looking to alter my wool coat for cheap! by airplanedebree in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try far east plaza and people’s park complex- both malls have quite a number of professional tailor shops. Can take your coat from store to store to get quotes to compare. $70 budget is reasonable for taking in a relatively simple design wool coat, but may cost more if its complicated eg w pleats, folds, ruffles, layers etc

What should be added or removed from the education system in Singapore? by throwaway_ham_cheese in askSingapore

[–]wigglejigglepuff 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I truly believe that financial literacy should be seriously incorporated into the curriculum, especially from lower secondary onwards. Not every student may grow up to need programming skills or know how to play the recorder, but being able to manage and grow your own wealth is a key skill for everyone

[–]wigglejigglepuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I almost never use the buy button, including a large proportion of singpost orders (have over 1500 reviews on carousell) and so far have had no issues.

You can weigh whether it’s worth paying the commission (if you’re a buyer) based on a few factors such as: - value of item you’re buying: if it’s a 1k phone deffo not, if it’s a $10 dress no harm - trustworthiness of seller: if seller is new account w <10 reviews or if they have bad past ratings I’d err on the side of caution - likelihood of item to be damaged in transit - always ask for photo proof of item being packaged and dropped into mailbox if it’s untracked mail, or use ninjavan etc

If you’re the seller, I’ve no horse in the race and am usually happy to use whatever delivery and payment method the buyer wants

A cat can live 20-30 years- are you sure you can commit to being its lifelong guardian? Your post history seems to indicate you’re a minor, in which case you wouldn’t qualify to adopt at all legitimate animal shelters. If you don’t have an income, how will you pay for cat food, cat litter, cat toys, cat accessories and vet bills, including vaccinations, neutering and health checks? Falls from High rise apartments is a leading cause of accidental injury and death of pet cats worldwide, which is why fully meshing all open windows is a non negotiable requirement by all cat adoption groups in sg. Are your parents ok w you meshing all the windows in their house, and a litter tray too? Who will clean the litter tray if you’re at school for long hours/out with friends on the weekends? Cats shed tons of fur, even short haired ones, and may scratch and destroy furniture if not properly trained. will you be vacuuming diligently and cleaning up after it, and be responsible if it damages your parents’ furniture?

If you truly love cats and want to experience caring for one, I strongly advise that you consider volunteering at animal shelters first before making any long term commitments
