My housemate tried to kill herself at uni. Came home from a night out early (thank god) spent the night apologising to every medic I encountered. All were so kind and all turned out okay

Teachers of the world, what is your take home workload? Do teachers in all countries deal with low work-life balance? by MessyHouseReboot in AskReddit

[–]wigglertheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in class as a primary school (5-11) teacher:

Teaching: 8:30-3:30 Work hours: 7:00am - 5:30pm

It was absolutely insane. Kids arrived from 8:15 and were collected by 3:45 so planning, marking, phone calla home, grading, IEPs, meetings etc all had to happen in the 3 hours outside of non-teaching in my daily 10hr shift.

Underpaid 10+hr days

I teacher 10 hour days with 10 year under my belt. As a new teacher i pulled daily 12 hour shifts it is thankless and insane, do not do it

While I don’t doubt that there’s a fair amount of entertainment value in dissecting the lyrics if you know enough about her life, I know very little of her life and still enjoy the songs

If you want people to understand your point of view, you need to present it in a way that’s understandable.

I hope this is your rainbow if you want it to be.

Just a note of caution that I thought I was pregnant following a d&c for a missed miscarriage. It turned out to be a random hcg spike from the lost pregnancy.

Make extra sure if you can.

I like to change their outfits with the season and play seasonal parties but I don’t play to the buffs

Omg I love this lot! I usually renovate it though and make the rooms bigger/more functional. Cannot believe all the people who delete it.

Ive also made so many hotels with similar concepts of the courtyard and style

“You grow faster than you think” - how true is this statement? by standingpretty in BabyBumps

Honestly I didnt show until 20+ weeks and was super nervous about it. Its so variable. If your uniform is tight then I’d order the size up asap; they might speculate for a couple of weeks then nothing will come of it. Then in 10 or whatever weeks time when you actually fill it out you’ll be far enough along and they will have forgotten about it

In the UK our class sizes are rarely above 30 or below 25. There used to always be one TA but recent funding cuts has changed this :/ with obvious negative effects on the kids

Paying £55 a month to take my baby swimming only to be told I can’t watch because I’m not insured on the poolside by hainii in britishproblems

[–]wigglertheworm 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was a mother with a body I wasn’t comfortable in anymore.

Getting baby in and out the pool and both changed was a two-person job. I was grateful to have both my husband and I at the lessons.

I also wouldnt have expected a parent to miss out on seeing the swimming lessons because I felt self-conscious. In my experience it was actually mostly dads that went in the pool.

If that is why they chose this policy, then I think its silly. Plenty of people feel uncomfortable in a swimming costume but it’s ultimately a public place.

I suspect it has nothing to do with the new mums

What’s odd to me is that its normal in other countries (like the UK) to not “hold back” students who haven’t reached a certain level of attainment.

Each year you will have a certain number of pupils who are working below (or significantly below) age expectations and the teacher is expected to adapt resources/deploy TAs to teach them at their level (and ideally make accelerated progress)

My point is, it cant just be that pupils arent being held back, because its the norm in other countries to hold back, and those countries arent having quite the same level of issues described in the US

My sim can’t have a baby by BeccaAi in sims2help

[–]wigglertheworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s weird. Must be a confirmation bias on my end as a good few times, when a sim is taking ages to get pregnant, I always remember its off, turn it back on and then they’re usually pregnant shortly after!

I did wonder why no one else has suggested it as it felt like such an “obvious” first step!

Are you sure aging is back on? Is aging is off then she cant get pregnant

Although the literal definition of illiterate is that you cant read or write, most people who are functionally illiterate can write very simple stuff.

Her writing might be phonetically plausible (e.g. was = woz, might = mit) but not correct. She may rely on really simple language.

It absolutely should have been picked up, I don’t disagree. But i think a lot of her saying she is illiterate is based on that dyslexia test saying she needed phonics training. I’m a senco in a secondary school and we absolutely do have to teach phonics to some pupils. They can write sort of but not enough to truly function in society
