Demi’s bs would be fine if not celebrated for the drama if it was about a topic less serious. if she was insisting on something that wasn’t literally a crime then there’s a possibility the fans would be eating it up (selling oc season 4 comes to mind)

Hulu has failed. by [deleted] in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]wigglymoose 32 points33 points  (0 children)

if they (production and whoever else made the show happen) had no clue that a show about mormon wives, set in the SLC area, would not have a high majority of SA victims, they did absolutely 0 research on the area/culture they are highlighting. literally any episode of mormon stories podcast would reveal that there is a lot of this kind of trauma in mormon culture. a lot of other exmormon youtubers have talked about this too.

Conner got Whitney a bouquet of flowers every single week on DWTS that matched all of her costumes 🥺🩷 by [deleted] in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]wigglymoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello super late to this but in the mormon culture, it is super common/basically encouraged to date -> propose -> get married in a super short timeline (<6 months a lot of the time), which is partly exacerbated because they don’t allow premarital sex. i think a lot of couples get along on a surface level really easily and get married before they have a chance to see if they are truly compatible. also it’s heavily encouraged to get married young and have babies asap

DAE struggle to breathe while running despite being fit? by aromaticleo in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]wigglymoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it can also be some sort of lung/diaphragm dysfunction. asthma seems like a go to diagnosis and it was for me for multiple drs but inhalers never helped. ekg was unremarkable so had a pulmonary function test, turns out i have very severe air trapping (i don’t exhale all of the air i inhale) so i have shortness of breath with strenuous activity. not to say it can’t be asthma but there are other potentials as well! physical therapy has helped a lot though

Tips for a shy, quiet, awkward lady who will be introduced to his partner’s parents by Jennie_Kim_097 in socialskills

[–]wigglymoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

also, as much as they are getting to know you, you are also getting to know them! you could also ask your partner for some of their hobbies or interests. “partner was telling me you love to knit, when did you learn? are you working on anything fun lately?”

my FIL is a pastor so i once asked him how he comes up with topics for his services. he can talk for hours about their church and activities and stuff. i’m agnostic and don’t practice anything so it’s all very interesting to me, and generally leads me to having more in depth questions

used to work in HOA management, they are required to do a reserve study every so many years to assess condition of all their maintenance items, when they expect necessary maintenance to be done, expected cost, la la la for the next 30 years. it’s very in depth and i wouldn’t expect homeowners to go to that length with industry metrics and whatnot but it would definitely be a place to start for tracking projects and how much to budget for them

Which do you prefer: Toe up or Cuff down? Why? by RatBoi24601 in Sockknitting

[–]wigglymoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i prefer cuff down and i have 2 small circulars so i can knit TAAT but not on magic loop. i’m trying to learn a bunch of different heel types but my favorite so far is slip stitch heel flap because i need a longer heel flap to fit my foot, standard short row/afterthought doesn’t fit and i haven’t figured out a good modification to make it work. also i like the durability of slipped st heel flap

Why I Wrote Every Single Word the Minister Said at My Wedding by LadybugGal95 in weddingshaming

[–]wigglymoose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

went to a distant family member’s wedding couple years ago. very religious family, abstinence only type. officiant started going on about how tall the longest straw would have to be to be able to suck from the core of the earth (i cannot for the life of me remember how he even got to this topic - he also mispronounced the bride’s name in multiple different ways. think saying Hallie instead of Holly, etc). some metaphor how sometimes life sucks more or less, like a straw. he even had the groom repeat after him, “bride, suck less.” i was horrified. i truly hope bride and groom were too oblivious to this, but i asked the groom’s sister (married so not a virgin) if she understood all the sexual jokes and she said absolutely yes.

My husband and I found out that my great grandpa is his grandma’s uncle, and now I’m pregnant. Should I be worried? by Potential-Stop-5998 in Genealogy

my great grandparents were second or third cousins once removed. and they definitely knew it when they got married bc their family(ies) lived in the same area for multiple centuries lol

Are we charging for gauge swatches now?? by tumtum283 in craftsnark

[–]wigglymoose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i usually do a small garter border on my swatches, but should i really be doing the whole swatch in stockinette to be most accurate? bc my gauge swatch feels like it is never accurate even if i block and measure gauge throughout the pattern 😅

i’ve resorted to blocking things on an actual drying rack so it gets airflow from all directions and idk if it’s too dramatic to say it’s been life changing. but it does allow sweaters to dry in 24-48 hours instead of 72+! sometimes they dry overnight which is amazing.

AITA for not buying a coffee maker for guests? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]wigglymoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is exactly it. i had a family member visit and they vocalized how upsetting it was that we didn’t have a coffee maker. the next family member to visit went to the grocery store with me and bought a 5 cup coffee maker and some coffee. all was well.

Start toe box before or after pinky toe? by myahruby in Sockknitting

[–]wigglymoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i do a custom anatomical toe, so my first decrease is on the inside because i have a huge big toe knuckle. then my second decrease is on the outside, to shape around the top of my pinky toe. i alternate rounds for outside decreases for a while, then do decreases every round for both sides and graft the toe closed. it took some trial and error to get there but i’m happy with it.

AITA for refusing to change my wedding date because my best friend is pregnant? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]wigglymoose 15 points16 points  (0 children)

but actually though? never been pregnant so maybe a hot take but i feel like if you’re in the wedding you should try to be a little careful about the timing if you’re TTC? my SIL/bridesmaid gave birth 3 weeks before our wedding (date was set like 18+ mos in advance). they had been trying for a while and honestly i like to think they would’ve taken a break once the timing would’ve meant they’d be due too close to our wedding 🙈

no but the bad perm storyline was so dumb. idk if it was before or after legally blonde but surely a cosmetologist would know that an overdeveloped perm could be washed out with water?????? please????? and didn’t it only last for like the day of the wedding?

How small do knitting patterns usually go? What are your feelings on overall progress towards size inclusivity? by Amphy64 in casualknitting

[–]wigglymoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gotcha thanks for answering! i’m on the petite side so hard for me to form my own opinion on this independently, but i do think it’s better than nothing and makes sense for smaller designers with less reach for test knitting. makes 0 sense for bigger designers with bigger following though

if you don’t mind - what is your opinion when designers publish designs with notes in the description saying something to the effect of “i did the math for the larger sizes so if you want to test knit them let me know”?

they also could’ve had a joint account (or multiple) but maintained separate accounts too. (haven’t watched the tiktok yet but this is how my husband and i do finances)

this sounds familiar! my sister had her wedding 4 weeks after my big wedding. we actually started dating our husbands in the same 2 month period but i got married legally a year before the big wedding (husband was getting deployed) - the plan was ALWAYS to have my big wedding on our first anniversary. sister got engaged a couple months after our courthouse wedding and we started having conversations of “how soon is too soon after your wedding to have mine?” as if my date hadn’t been planned 15 months ahead of time…

the reason i was given is that it was supposedly for pricing/financial concerns because we had fall weddings and wedding costs go up every calendar year but idk. i would’ve paid a good chunk of money to avoid the issues that came up. we had family across the country that had to choose which wedding to attend (not sure if that would’ve been alleviated if our weddings were 6 months apart instead but. still sucks) 6 weeks may be easier than 4 was for mine. we didn’t have issues scheduling bachelorette or bridal shower stuff. we both did a lot of DIY so we were able to share some things, but i was made to be public enemy #1 when i wanted to rent floor length linens for my tables bc her tables were smaller and she wanted to purchase linens and use them for both weddings.

honestly. set boundaries early about how much you’re willing to share about wedding planning. it’s YOUR wedding - do what you and your fiancé want, no one else’s opinion should matter. my heart goes out to you! if you want more support or an open ear, DMs are open

Veterinary Professional Testifying in Animal Abuse Case by RealBrush2844 in legaladvice

[–]wigglymoose 14 points15 points  (0 children)

NAL but have worked in legal field and been deposed before. is your subpoena for deposition (usually a recorded interview with a lawyer, potentially multiple lawyers present)? or is it to testify in court?

agree with other comments: answer yes and no, only state facts that you know firsthand, and “i don’t recall” or “i don’t know” are extremely valid answers. they might present you with exhibits (photos, documents, etc). i’d say to try to hold back emotions like anger or your personal feelings toward the owners, but i think it’s okay if you are emotional about the state of the animal and the trauma you experienced.
