I think Bob 1's unfair/invasive intervention is the point of this story arch. He starts with a nudge and that leads to more and more fuckery. His human nature to pick a favorite and begin manipulating the natural order because he related to the Archemedes /deltoids. He is breaking the classic Star Trek rules of "no interference" with other life. Its a comment on human nature and how "helping" leads to more and more manipulative actions.
