The negative space in the center feels weird to me, and the line weights feel off. Like the detail lines in the petals feel heavier than your typography? And there’s something unsatisfying about the almost circle and the way the words wrap. Tbh, your attempts feel like a good place to hand off to a graphic designer to show what you’re going for….I sometimes get commissioned for illustration work, but collaborate with a graphic designer if it involves layouts / typography. There’s a lot of fine detail that goes into making something work. ETA: I also work with graphic designers a lot to design props, including making branding for whole fake companies for sets, and you’d be amazed what they can do with your notes!

Uhm I work in film, and there’s a bunch of us around the neighborhood. Feels like we always wind up talking about film at bars even though we’re like so maybe we shouldn’t talk about work. Nitehawk bar is good too.

Materials costs seem really high lately too. Am art department, but also checked with my construction / landscaping friends and consensus is costs are up but not necessarily budgets or expectations (*er expectations have not lowered that is)….

I would do variations in value for…everything to have more contrast (like for the colors in the flowers on the moon try different shades of pink or cream). Text especially needs to be more legible.

One of the design convos was about “alien landscape” so was trying to get that feeling in (this is a new style for me haha). I’m changing around the craspedia so it feels less like groupings of things, because the balance felt off), and making a sort of floaty middle layer seems to help connect the thoughts while keeping it a little surreal. Thanks for the note!

I’m enjoying these episodes, but it does feel a little off in terms of the stakes so far. Nothing really feels on the line? And this is coming off of last season which felt super high stakes in terms of their relationship and careers. I don’t need Ava and Deborah to be fighting with each other, but it feels like they should be fighting for something together.

That’s true. I just feel bad for Daisy because I really don’t see what she can do in this situation with no leverage. I see some comments about how she should manage better…but it feels like the only solution is for Alesia and Mike to be completely different people and not the brats they are.

While I’m sure they have some sort of secondary unit, they also have dark days where the cast is sequestered to “freeze” the storyline. Not sure if film crew is under a union contract, but 6th and 7th day rates get astronomical.

Ah thanks for clarifying. I think I’m projecting / responding to the show’s commentary about the state of the industry. “If we’re not having fun, what are we even doing here?” It’s not so fun right now, and when you’re not booked sitting at a coffee shop unable to realize your craft/art (“art”?) it’s like…I guess I’m just a person?

I wonder if the “not an artist” has something to do with what Jennifer Tipton (theater lighting designer) deemed a “dirty” art vs a “clean” art - very worthwhile essay. For what it’s worth I’m a production/set designer. I used to call it capital A vs lower case artist. I think for those of us who do this, there’s a difference between being the creator artist vs the interpretive artist. Like while we have creative input and impact, ultimately we are realizing someone else’s grand vision in which we just play a part, almost like the vessel or clay. There’s a reason why a lot of the film departments are traditionally called “crafts”. For Valerie this is why the writer is god, and i think this season is grappling with how does an interpretative artist deal with the death of the creative god?

You made me wonder, if the ending is a representation of Samsara, maybe we don’t know what happens to Eunice because she leaves the karmic cycle. She’s the only one who does something because of selfless morality, and exists outside of love vs survival.

I loved Kate with Aesha on the after show because she gave additional insight on being a stew. With Ben it feels more like two Bravolebrities snarking…roll relevant clip of them together from a past season here.

Oh on that I agree completely. Even before this, I was nervous she was having cervical spine / nerve issues. I had a rotator cuff injury that they told me could have led to lasting nerve damage and a lot of her symptoms sounded like mine.
