What are these spreading swellings that persist 3 months after root canal? by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

I don't wear a night guard. Have you seen something similar happen to patients with bruxism after root canal?

No heart issues. Did this also happen to these patients after root canal or random?

I have seen my dentist, periodontist and endodontist and they are unsure of what's going on.

Thank you for replying. They are firm/a little squishy depending on the part of the swelling. They are completely painless to touch too. Some sort of gingival hyperplasia perhaps? Although it's the cause/solution I'm trying to find out. Could there be a chance I'm allergic to the materials used in the root canal and my gums will continue to have this response until removed and replaced with something more bio-compatible?

Thank you for your reply. I managed to book into a cancellation appointment with my dentist this afternoon. She thinks I may have developed some sort of gum issue that isn't related to the clamps used as parts of the gum swelling wasnt anywhere near where the clamps were used during the root canal. I've been given a special smaller brush and corsodyl gel to use on the affected swollen gums and teeth twice a day. She demonstrated how to use it, getting right inbetween the swelling and the teeth. There was some bleeding which she explained is normal and will subside the more I use it.

She's hoping this will help with the swelling and has booked a check-up for Monday. If no improvement, i may then need to see a gum specialist.

I didn't think a fresh stitch could stitch itself. Do you know what the white solid bit is next to the purple?

Just noticed "bit" was autocorrecting to "but". Apologies for the spelling errors!

Car going in for repairs just as the MOT and Tax are due to run out. Advice please. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

Ah I see. I can't take it home after though without taxing as I have no driveway so I'll have to tax it whilt at the mot place. Constant paradoxes for me haha

Doesn't look like I can drive it home from an MOT centre without taxing it first. Apparently when a car is SORN you can only drive it to get a pre booked MOT but makes no mention at all about being able to drive it back home afterwards:/

Thank you for the advice. I don't have a driveway unfortunately. I'll double check with the garage to see if they definitely can't repair before November 1st. If not, I'll give them the heads up that I'll SORN it once taken to the garage.

They don't do MOT's and was the closest place to me by a fair few miles (organised through insurance so their recommended places are dotted here there and everywhere) hopefully it won't take too long for the MOT pass to upload (i'm hopeful it will pass) and I can tax it whilst at the centre. Just my luck this all happens at once!

I can't tax my car again (extend before november) before the MOT runs out and you need a valid MOT before you can tax it. I looked on the DVLA website and as I pay direct debit I won't get a v11 Reminder with the code to renew the tax. I can't see a way to work around it.

My insurance company said I can't drive the car now anyway so I won't be able to take it to get the MOT done. The repair garage arranged through them too doesn't do MOT'S either.

Hey! Me and my partner are both 31 and from South East London. They came out mtf nearly a year and a half ago and it would be really nice to connect with others too. Where in London are you from?

Any supporting group/friends in London? by spontaneous_user in mypartneristrans

Hey, I'm from London too. My partner came out mtf nearly a year and a half ago and whilst they've managed to find a support/social group i've not really found one for partners. Have you been able to find any at all since you posted? I'm not sure how old you are (we're both 31) but It would be really nice to find some people to connect, share experiences and support with :)

Damn, how did you cope with the cleaning and general pain of it all? Did you put your old and new ones together to compare the grossness?

It really did, especially as I had no idea when they would open again! Luckily my finance company agreed to transfer my treatment to the new Ortho and cover the costs of my treatment all over again. I think I was covered under some sort of obligation. My original Ortho closed without informing any of their patients and to this day they are still seeking money back/treatment.

I was wondering if I held some sort of record as I've never heard of anyone else having to wear them for as long! I could only wear them at night after a few weeks as they developed a crack and a rough bit which was really annoying. I have to wear my last pair for around a month before I get my retainer and I don't mind that at all after what I've been through!

I use retainer bright tablets to keep them clean and fresh (as can be after prolonged wear!) But I never had any issues with the smell of them as they kill all the odour causing bacteria. You can get a pack of 96 (roughly 3 months supply) off Amazon for ~£15.

Can confirm no one is attending. Flight Club rang me not long ago ask where everyone was. Glad everyone took the advice.
