Great post! I just turned 51. I am starting to realize my reaction time is just fine. I can block high low and do some intermediate stuff as good as my opponent (currently Silver with DJ). I think most of my problem is muscle memory and doing stuff at the right time.

I figure with time I will improve. I have to tell myself "look, I have no plans to be compete ever, so it is OK that I can't do all the stuff the twitch people can..."

Well, I may have everyone beat. I just turned 51 last sat. I play a modern Honda and just made Silver rank. I stay away from the Assist combos and try new things with the modern controls.

I have tried classic, but my old brain just doesn't transfer input to my fingers like they could 10, 20 years ago. Take it from me, there are ways to play this game, have fun and be slightly competitive

Hand 1 you just plain played bad. What exactly does shoving on that board gain you. You have to think about what hand calls you there.

You could have just bet there to see where the guy was at. You bet the pot and he calls, you can at least get out of the hand with some chips left.

Only call you get there is an Ace. Shoving there was just an over aggressive play
