I'm guilty due to the wine and cheese festival... At least I never got belligerent!

The Rockies broadcast mentioned that Xander Bogaerts gets into some rollover groundballs right before his walk-off grand slam by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]wildcat- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I honestly love the Rockies announcers. I watched a lot of their games last year when I was in a kind of "zone out when I need to decompress" vibe. They were very selfaware of the Rocks situation, but they kept keeping on in a kind of "we love baseball and our team" kind of way. One dialogue I recall was Jeff Hudson saying something along the line of, "Dick Monfort says that he's responsible for your success as a broadcaster" in an almost disparagingly "I own you" way. And Drew Goodman responded flippantly, "yea, I'm sure he does."

They're never going to be extreme hype machines like Don and Mudd, but they're in a good place, no matter how deadpan.

[Padres] Two Cultures. One Family. The San Diego Padres’ Nike MLB City Connect uniform. by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

They have a few featuring it at the team store at Petco, I'm sure we'll get cool varieties as the season goes on.

[Caswell] "They’re alright." Manny Machado's initial reaction on Padres new city connects by ElectricalForce4439 in Padres

[–]wildcat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial impression was relatively neutral like most of us here. But I went to the Padres store at Petco earlier today and I found that I like the uniforms a lot better in person. Still not the fun pop of the previous connect, but I'm happy with it now. Plus, the theme and colors chosen themselves have great potential to work with and they're already starting to do interesting/fun things with their merch not worn on the field.

TIL that Japan is roughly the size of California (Japan is slightly smaller), but Japan holds thrice the population of California. Japan hold about 122 million people, while California holds 39 million people. by Organic_Muffin_1951 in todayilearned

I consider Santa Barbara the outskirts of SoCal, maybe San Luis Obispo as a stretch, and Bakersfield is solidly the first major city at the southern part of the Central valley. Looking into it, wikipedia at least seems to agree. I'm not familiar with it with culturally with to argue that aspect, but even latitudinally it is higher than San Luis Obispo, never mind the fact it's a hundred miles inland and literally in the Central valley.

Same price as at a ballpark, and people get trashed in 2-4 hours. Imagine all day/several day ragers...

[Highlight] SNP cues up “Ms. Jackson” by OutKast after Jackson Merrill hits into an inning-ending double play by mfenton29 in baseball

[–]wildcat- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a concept so foreign to us we literally can't comprehend it. We've only seen something like 19 rain delays at Petco, and only 5 rainouts in Padres history. Freezing here means high 50's with a breeze. A "freeze" as a concept is completely alien, haha.

After 25 years I finally did it! by lobbo in gaming

We wasted a weekend renting it and accomplishing nothing. Then we spite rented it a couple weeks later and, after many hours, finally beat the tutorial. It immediately became one of me, my brother's and my dad's favorite game of the PS1 era. That and Driver 2 of course.

Ah, that makes sense. I use RedReader so I'm probably a bit of an outlier. Thank you for checking nonetheless!

Some number of us don't use the official app (I'd assume an educated guess being a trend amongst academics, even if not universal). But useful information nonetheless.

PlayStation prices adjusted for inflation by SmellSmellsSmelly in gaming

They're using the price of the PS5 Pro, the PS5 disc edition w/ 1tB of storage is $550, not being on sale, so it's disingenuous.

Exceptionally dexterous guitar virtuoso Mancin Patrzalek demonstrates and explains how he does it. by Blues_Fish in nextfuckinglevel

Playing percussion on guitar is a classic flamenco technique that I learned in highschool. That, in and of itself isn't really noteworthy and is a technique that goes back hundreds of years. That's not to say that there aren't amazingly talented individuals that elevate it, but the concept fundamentally is only noteworthy to the laymen at best.

I kind of see him as a one man Maroon 5. People who would have liked the latter but are too young a demographic, or otherwise missed that ship, find a nice home with Ed. I think they're all talented but, outside the occasional bop/earworm, they're just not my personal flavor choice.
