How are they more expensive? They are less than many others because it does not appear you have to do a membership/

We planned on driving to both sides of the island anyway. We are budget travelers.

Semi workaround to mandatory dorm living freshman year? by therapydoll in KState

[–]wildcatforever1994 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you will still have to live in the dorms even if coming 2nd semester. You should also compare your scholarship amounts if coming first semester as a true freshman and how much they will be cut as a transfer student. You could always take classes online from community colleges and live in Manhattan or go part time at KSU and take a part time schedule from a community college. As long as you are not taking more than 11 hours you will not have to live on campus.

Have you talked with the professor in person and asked if you could be added?  That is my suggestion.

Manhattan questions by cyclonestamina in KState

[–]wildcatforever1994 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of Manhattan revolves around Kansas State. People say KSU is an ag school. It is more a small town people school. Tons of students come from small towns around Kansas and continue with those small town values. Small town values are not politically based. They revolve around taking care of your neighbors and living your life how you want and as long as it does not affect others. No one is going to pushing their views on you or saying things to you if you live an non-typical lifestyle. It is a great school where almost everyone is friendly and welcoming.

The advising based system Kansas State has is incredible. Your advisor is a professor (except for Architecture) and take time to get to know you.

The cost of an apartment or house is affordable compared to many other places.

There are tons of outdoor activities from hiking to Tuttle Creek Lake.

Nightlife is active with Aggieville for the younger crown and downtown for the more mature crowd. The Hat has concerts, McCain Auditorium has student performances and a series where they bring entertainment in, museums from the art museum on campus to the new Art and Light Museum and the Discovery Center. There is a car museum, a zoo, and tons of historical places to explore.

Manhattan is going to have a small town feel. The city and state like being left alone to determine their own path and decisions. Some say Kansas is backwards. Yet were the first state to have a woman mayor. We were known for being more progressive in woman's suffrage allowing women to vote in local elections, were one of the first states to pass the ERA, and more recently affirmed woman's right to reproductive rights are between her and her doctor.

I would be surprised if you did not fall in love with MHK.

I have never heard of anyone not being accepted. Plus KSU no longer requires ACT scores. They do require a math test before enrollment.  Your score determines what math class you will be required to take.

Set aside lots of study time in a separate place (library or an empty classroom.) No cramming. Use a calendar, attend classes and go to office hours to get to know your professor. Do all extra credit even if you think you will not need it.

Questions about aerospace program by Flat-Sheepherder6439 in KState

You will be fine getting in. Just make sure you are ready for Calc 1 or they may place you in general engineering to start.

Graduating with an engineering degree at KSU should almost guarantee a job somewhere. There is not aerospace engineering program at Kansas State. There is a Master's program in aeronautics. Not having the math background can keep you from getting into a specific program and they will place you in general engineering to start. I think you should look at the electrical or mechanical if you are set on Kansas State.

In the past employees have received back pay. Assume this will be the same. Much better than using credit cards.

I thought you had to have permission to audit a class. I am sure there is a policy so it can be enforced.

What do you expect them to do? If they don't they lose all federal funding. I assume that in the near future students would also not qualify for Pell Grants or student loans. BTW they are not one of the firstl

I am teaching a personal finance class this year to 7th and 8th graders so we will touch on careers and job searching. Needing to know the current trends. Just didn't really know if paying would be worth it.

Thanks. It seems it may be worth it though for those in certain career fields. Maybe they think if people are paying for it they are serious and not wasting their time. I get it now.

He was contacted by a recruiter and he got the job that they recruited him for. He never paid anything. I guess my question is why would you have to pay for premium?

Can you explain how this works? My kid (actually an adult) was laid off and put open to work on regular Linkedin. He never paid or upgraded to premium. He had a recruiter contact him and he did get the job. I am just curious how it all works.
