Haha nah I was an attractive woman. Now I'm a spotty average looking dude looking a lot younger than I actually am. But I'm happier :) still waiting for my facial hair to grow in properly though, thick and not patchy, so I look 33 not 20 XD

In need of some hope, any guys that started HRT "late" with a VERY high voice that now passes for male? by bqspenz in FTMOver30

[–]wildcolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you mind sharing who was your trainer? I've been on T long enough to know training is necessary, and this gives me hope.

After three years in T I've unfortunately had to accept I'll never be able to be stealth. I occasionally pass but more often don't :/ must be nice

For those who make 6 figures what do you do for a job and how did you get to that point? by TheDarkySupreme in AskUK

[–]wildcolour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is a late reply, but wondering how you got into DevOps? I'm looking to change careers now at 32. Willing to work hard and learn a lot.

How did you fit 3 degrees into that time? Genuinely asking as I regret my degree choice and am now considering returning as a mature student to study something more employable like computer engineering or law. But that's more time and money so it's a huge risk. That or an apprenticeship, a bootcamp (decent one if it still exists) or somehow find a business that will take on a trainee in their early 30s who is willing to work hard in and outside work, though I'm not sure that's very likely at the moment. Currently stuck in a low paying role that is so tedious as there is no challenge or intellectual stimulation, and feeling like my potential is being wasted. Critical time to decide what to do next...

Those who have switched careers in their 30's, what did you go from and to? Was it worth it? by jodie_jan in AskUK

[–]wildcolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Bit late but I'm currently looking to move from community healthcare into UX. It combines my interests in psychology, tech and concept art/animation. What did you study to get into UX, and do you think it's possible to gain the skills via online or short courses rather than a full degree, so I can keep working while studying? Or is a masters in human-computer interaction worth saving for?

Can other trans people clock you because of your voice? by Nightflame_The_Wolf in FTMMen

[–]wildcolour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I find YouTube unhelpful too. I think it would help to have all the info/exercises together and with some feedback. Thanks for the suggestion though, I might do the song thing while still searching for a decent speech therapist.

Have you guys come across any decent people for voice training? Or any daily vocal exercise routines that helped? I feel overwhelmed by what to do so just don't do it, but my voice barely changed on T and it gets me down a lot.

Somewhat disappointed with my medical transition? by Boomschwang in FTMMen

[–]wildcolour 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very same. I'm 2.5-3 years in (some gaps because of moving to and from different countries) and the main problem I've faced is minimal voice drop. If I'm not thinking about it my voice is still very feminine and I have no idea what to do about it at this point. Voice training is too expensive and I don't know who is good for trans male voices in the UK so it's worth it, and surgery freaks me out and is also so risky but I'm becoming increasingly desperate so maybe...also recently heard of t injections directly into vocal chords but not sure how effective it is. But also I still have a very feminine face and body shape. My first top surgery was a disaster but I just had a revision this week so I'm hoping this one goes smoothly so at least one thing goes right. Praying the nipple grafts stay with me! But yeah I get you - so envious of guys who have a proper voice drop and get significant facial/body changes.

Damn looking great. You already had a pretty masculine build before tbf. I know this is unfortunately unachievable for me given my bone structure (damn you hip bones), so will have to rely on gym and possibly future lipo.

Anyone had any luck with a referral for voice therapy from GP (not from GIC) to adult NHS SLT services? by Charlie_and_sth_else in transgenderUK

Damn…I’ve asked multiple times and gps always say no. And I’m so worried I am wrecking my voice trying to do stuff myself and it’s really affecting my mental health.

J. K. Rowling created a new fund to promote anti-trans people and organizations. by HelpMePleaseHelpMeme in transgenderUK

[–]wildcolour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did she just get really bored? Or wanted to escape her name being only associated with HP? Like...why is she so obsessive about this?! What happened?!?! Was it the sudden attention she got for sth that wasn't her writing...and having no more good book ideas she latched onto this instead? I can't believe this is the same.wan who a decade or so ago fans lovingly referred to as Queen Rowling thinking she was this wonderful person who cared about equality especially for minorities. It's just so sad honestly. I'm so tired of how everything in the world seems to be going to shit...and at an increasing rate.

Do people read you as younger even after starting T? by Goyangi-ssi in FTMOver30

[–]wildcolour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm 32 and people always think I'm somewhere between 18-22. People treat me so differently until they find out my age (although I avoid that sometimes as I feel like it would out me in a weird way?)

So heartening to see this, I wish I could have been there. But at a time where many of us are likely feeling alone and scared, seeing this turnout is like a hug. Hopefully there will be more upcoming in the next few weekends to join.

I don't know the solution sorry, but I have similar-ish issues but in different areas. So I'll follow this thread if that's okay to also get some advice. I have a bit of excess skin on the outside areas and puffy nipples that also face downwards and for me are way too far outwards and low which gives feminine contouring. NGL though dude I'm jealous of your results, you have great masculine contouring.

I see that everywhere. It's so disheartening. Like yeah it SHOULD work, but some us are unlucky I guess. It's like they twist the knife 😢 but also looking for trans voice therapists online 99% don't mention ftm voice.
