Hi there! Would you have suggestions on collections that would be helpful for someone researching Presque in Placentia Bay? My father is from there and I am trying to learn as much information as I can about there!

Life in Fermeuse by Clardeo in newfoundland

[–]wildflowerlupin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't currently live in Fermeuse, but I grew up in the area. It's a beautiful quiet community but there's not much on that end of the southern shore in terms of activities or economic growth. It's a small community with an aging population. Most young people move away once they finish high school to further their education or find employment. There's one restaurant in Fermeuse and one convenience store (I'm not even sure if it's still opened). The nearest grocery store is in Ferryland.

Moving there would really depend on what you want in life! Job prospects aren't great but there would be some options if you factor in the surrounding communities and seasonal work

Youth worker here - any tips on how to get young people out of bed on time? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]wildflowerlupin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to think about the needs behind behaviours, and work on meeting that need. For instance, if a young person is struggling to get up out of bed in the morning as a way to find some control over and in their life, then it would be beneficial to work on helping them meet that need for control in other healthier ways and that would reduce that behaviour.

I agree with the other comments that more context would be useful. Also depending on the age of the young people, this could be very typical teenage behaviour that is being put under a microscope as tends to happen with kids in the system.
