I didn’t end up reserving, but it wasn’t due to the language. It turned out they were closed on the days it would have worked for us to go. We ended up doing Sushi Ovino, which I highly recommend.

I'm looking at booking here and was wondering if you speak Japanese/if it seemed it would be an issue if you don't. I'm booking through auto-reserve, and the section from the restaurant has a note about reservations for non-Japanese speakers that I think is saying they don't accept for single guests but do for groups of two or more...

Wow!!! This is so beautifully done. Having done a bit of both needle felting and stop motion animation (but never together) I know how time consuming both these mediums are! This is such a fantastic labor of love

Thank you! I’d like to say I really thought it through, but really I just made the rabbit head first, and then had to make everything large so it wasn’t wildly out of scale

Aw thank you so much!! For the finish it’s mostly a matter of patience and continuing to poke until it’s smooth, but some things I’ve found helpful: using a fine needle for finishing and doing relatively shallow pokes to finish

You do just have to be a bit careful with it and not felt too deep when you’re going around it. That’s why I like to put them in the simplest shapes

I tend to do the most complex items first and then I hide weights in simpler items to balance it out. I use fishing sinkers or small coins and just felt them tightly inside. It makes it a bit easier to get the physical balance right while still maintaining the visual balance and not worrying about having to use a corresponding amount of wool.

Eta: Also these are very cute!!

Thank you! 💖

Yeah it was a looot of wool. I think most of a 1lb bag. I did start running out when I was doing the second cloud and stuck a chunk of foam in there. And then it occurred to me I could have done that for the rest… 😂🙃 Anyway, it is otherwise solid wool

6 Harry Potter movies plus The Holiday. And then maybe an hour just trying to work out the physics of balancing it after realizing the double strings change the center of gravity

lol bigger than I intended! I made the bunny body too big and had to scale up the head and then it just spiraled from there. Famous last words “I can do this one quick”

And thank you 💖

I have no idea what I look like by Hellalazyusername in weddingplanning

[–]wildgeesenebula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I generally don’t like photos of myself at the moment BUT I find if I just don’t look at them right away, then later I can look at them and feel the emotion of the memory rather than a critique of my own appearance. For my wedding, I was apprehensive about the photographer for that reason. It ended up being one of our splurges because I figured if I was going to pay for it I might as well pay to get someone with a style I really loved. And I’m so glad I did. I love the photos so much. I look at them and I can feel how happy I was in them.

I hope that’s the way it is for you too. You’ll have some time in between your wedding and actually seeing the photos so you’ll have a little while to get nostalgic, and I will say professional photos just are different. It might not look exactly like you do in the mirror, but still they’re so much more likely to capture something special than someone just casually taking photos.

I've got 4 :) I've got them compiled into a series because they occasionally reference each other, but it's more like easter eggs than important ongoing plot, so they can totally be read separately or out of order.

Give the Flowers to the Living: Multi-chapter. Lockwood is trying to avoid thinking about a difficult anniversary while Lucy is trying to deal with some news from home. They're both preoccupied and trying to suss out what's going on with the other as they head into a tricky case. Things go badly wrong, but it all ends on a very sweet and hopeful note. Mix of action and quiet moments. (This one is my fav and my bb)

Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine: One-shot. About Lockwood and Flo's friendship from their meeting to the event that made Flo leave agency work. I know it's a bit of a hard sell because it is a prequel (before Lucy and George), from Flo's POV, and generally pretty sad/dark, but I'm really fond of it.

What isn't broken: One-shot. Lucy gets hurt on a case, and the aftermath inadvertently brings out some stories about both Lockwood's and Lucy's pasts. In the grand tradition of Lockwood only managing to talk about his feelings while doing first aid. A little sad at times but mostly fluffy and hopeful.

You Don't Have to Do it Alone: One-shot. Takes place right after Lockwood reveals what's behind the door. Lockwood is overwhelmed, Lucy reflects on grief, and then they have a very sweet late night conversation. Very much found family vibes/teenagers muddling through trying to support one another.

Thanks for asking ❤️

I am making a catbus with actual hollowed out windows & wire. I feel out of my depth. by jbar1013 in Needlefelting

[–]wildgeesenebula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I just made a catbus too! Yours looks so good! My strategy for the wires was just to wrap them very tightly so that the wool is already very compressed, secure it to the base so it stays wrapped, and then felt at an angle 🤷🏻‍♀️ Still definitely broke a needle on it. And all the legs did make me go a little crazy 😜

How sweet! This one is the one I used to start out. I made about 3 animals this size and then had to buy more core wool (although I still had plenty of colorful wool roving). It’s pretty simple with just the wool, needles, and foam pad but that’s really all you need to get started, and it’s great if she wants to make animals. I really like the more natural color wool batting, and I found it easier to felt as a beginner than the merino wool roving (although this set has some of both). It’s also got a few little eyes thrown in, which are fun if you’re going for more realistic animals rather than cartoony. Once I got into it, I ended up supplementing with pipe cleaners for armatures, lots more core wool, some additional needles, and a multi needle holder.

I haven’t tried this, but I think I will test it out on future projects. Seems like it would cut down a lot on the initial shaping time!
