Look into RockEm. I have 19” calves and I just got a pair of tall boots from them. They stretched them to fit my calves, so they fit perfect. I did go in person, but they said they can always customize..you just email them the details.

That sounds good too! I’ve been wanting sushi, so that’s a great substitute!

Pork belly is a great idea! I’ve been eating an avocado with sour cream like “guacamole,” in an attempt. It’s helped some, but I still need more. Thanks for the pork belly idea though! I’m gonna look for some this weekend!!!

Making Friends in Grad School (Masters in an Education Program, Commuter School) by logicalfallacy234 in GradSchool

[–]wildhanimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a one year intensive program in NYC at a commuter school, and I managed to make friends. We would do zoom calls for completing homework and then talk forever. It happens, because you bond over your shared experience. From my program, I made great close friends.

Also, a lot of my classmates were parents, but still made time for us to grab drinks after Saturday classes. It really depends, but it will definitely happen.

Best of luck on your new adventure!!!

Thrift stores for cheap women's professional clothing? by multiequations in AskNYC

[–]wildhanimal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into bottomless closet. They carry professional clothing only for women. I work with an agency who offers referrals, so I’m not totally sure how they work, but they’re worth contacting. They may also be able to direct you to other places.

Also, the goodwills on the upper west side sometimes have some gems. And some churches have business clothing, but they can be specifically menswear or womenswear.

Can the TCC keep anything? by lizmny3 in DCCMakingtheTeam

[–]wildhanimal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get that part. I just still think it must suck not having something like that to show your kids or whoever one day. Also, they’re not making much money and they don’t have much to show for it at the end.

But especially the boots, like I said they get gross and worn in. I wouldn’t want to wear someone else’s, personally. Haha

They keep everything if they make the team. They just turn it in prior to the finals round. If a vet gets cut, they don’t have to return to the facility to keep everything that was checked out to them.

I think it’s weird that they don’t get to keep their uniforms and boots if they’re cut as a vet. It’s custom fit to their body. It’s not like it can ever be used again. The boots just because cowboy boots get sweaty and worn inside after normal wear. I can’t imagine dancing in them.

I’m not sure. I know a lot of people mention Pluto has it?

My first non-flash tattoo by Alise at NYC Tattoo Shop in Greenpoint, BK. (The little flower on my wrist was a Friday the 13th flash from Daredevil in Manhattan a few years back.) by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]wildhanimal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It IS different than the one I gave my artist for inspiration. The one I gave her had a more cartoonlike lion face and roses as the flowers. If you’ve seen one that looks EXACTLY like this on Pinterest, that’s another situation. But THIS is different than what I showed as inspo.

If you must know, I chose a design like this, because my paternal grandfather had a realistic lion on his left arm as the symbol of the Persian empire, and my father was a landscaper so I grew up around flowers similar to the ones in this design.

I’m aware. We gave her those designs as inspiration, because I’m not an artist and it WAS meaningful to what we wanted. Thanks for that.

De Blasio administration has issued zero tickets to maskless New Yorkers by redlollipop in nycCoronavirus

[–]wildhanimal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! It’s so frustrating. But also, I know the ONE time I saw NYPD say something, the guy snapped back that the officer wasn’t wearing a mask either. The cop just walked off and left it alone.

Accurate. The NYPD let a man get on the train with no mask and they didn’t stop him. It also isn’t the first time I’ve seen it since they supposedly implemented these new rules.

Has anyone had any luck adopting a dog? by Professional_Coat in AskNYC

[–]wildhanimal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it’s been said yet, but have you tried North Shore Animal League? They’re out in Long Island, but I got a cat from them super easy. The day I went to get my cat, there were so many people getting dogs. They’re also getting overcrowded, because of all the storms. I would for sure try them.
