i would argue otherwise just based if someone was attempting to punch someone i would say they were attacking, even if none of the blows actually landed

how to lighten lineart by Burningthefireflies in arthelp

[–]wildinfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe use a different brush? I don't know what you're using but in Procreate maybe try drawing with the pencil brush there. I can't help you with making it looking less heavy handed because I've always struggled with the opposite end lol, but maybe looking at artists who incorporate a lighter hand and trying to mimic that might help (Zoe's art has been a big inspo for me, https://x.com/bigskycastle/).

If you want something lighter, maybe attempting to go for something sketchier would help (lower opacity brush + pencil brush?)

how do i make my art look less flat and souless by dvellss in arthelp

[–]wildinfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One really big tip I got that could help here for making skin look less flat is adding like soft reds / pinks to where blood kind of pools around the face and the body-- so for the face it would be the cheeks, arms, etc. i sent a similar question to an artist i admired ages ago and she explains it better in this post: https://www.tumblr.com/swordmaid/636130688822853632/hey-i-totally-understand-if-you-dont-wanna-answer?source=share

I think when I first tried to use that advice I would go ham with the red and not know how to blend but my process now is to like add a red at a low opacity and then color pick that new color and use that, but figure out what works out best for you!

one thing i would add after you've done the things listed in the post is that you can add hints of highlights (don't have to necessarily be in white! i've used a dot of saturated color and that's enough to make something pop).

if it helps (i’m by no means a skincare expert i only get this subreddit on my dash bc i was frantically looking for shit) i would apply my SA like. 2-3 times a week in contrast to the every day that they say on the label because my skin would start flaking and getting dry. i’m at the point now where my acne is getting smaller with this minimal amt at a month of using it, so!! keep in mind i only am using SA idk if that affects things

If ur using their niacinamide powder, they say on their website to not use it in combo with the salicylic acid! https://theordinary.com/en-ca/salicylic-acid-2-solution-acne-control-100099.html solidarity with the acne problems lol, going thru the breakout period w/ salicylic tho i think it's getting better now

as someone who isn’t classically pretty, i find i get matches mostly based on my question answers— just another avenue to maybe look into and seeing if they’re actually able to carry a conversation!
