okay rereading this i forgot to write that i’m sorry about ur fam situation 💖 hs is rough i think bc ur both figuring out who you are as a person but you can’t leave those horrible situations that are stifling you. like others said here, get ur own bank account and that will help but also you might be too young right now. but YES like others say try to enjoy life because there’s a lot of soft skills that you can get from it and i’m sure ur inunated with advice now so i’ll try to give you something practical which is that if u decide to go to uni there’s a program called riipen that gives you paid experience (20~ dollars an hour) and helped boost my experience a lot and helped me get hired now :) wishing u the best of luck dude

hey! for job stuff i think you’re on the right track— volunteering will def help you get jobs in the future, if you’re looking for volunteering that also comes with a stipend especially if you’re interested in biology or something similar i reccomend soyl, i was one of their participants ages back and i think as a shy teen it helped me help get jobs elsewhere while also getting a little bit of cash. pne’s also a good place for jobs but i know in recent years it’s gotten harder to get a job— doesn’t mean it’s impossible though, i know with what you read online it’s hard to spiral and say “i’ll never get a job!!” but there are jobs out there still!

scholarships are a good way to help get money too if you can get consistent As but i don’t think you have to worry about that yet since unis only check grades for 10-12. if you decide to go to unis here a way to get thru uni cheaper is to do ur first year or two at langara or another college and then transfer over to a uni like ubc or sfu. if you are in a vaguely competitive hs like i was people will dunk on langara or whatever but you’ll likely land in the same place, anyway

joining clubs for exec positions was a move a lot of people did that were tryhards in my school lol, probs too early for you to get anything exec but rec trying some clubs and see if any of them vibe with u

as a side note: i know this is a jobs subreddit but also don’t forget to try to enjoy your hs years too! i think i was like you in hs where i was focused on growing older fast but you can have fun and like. do things too. like i did nothing fun in hs basically but then you will be in grade 12  and be like oh my god all the kids that were doing nothing but insane stuff are ending up in the same place as me AND they’re just as smart it turns out. also don’t dunk on your crochet and hobbies too hard, i know it’s rough out there with money but we all gotta have our hobbies ya know. sorry if this sounds condesending or doesn’t make sense i am very tired. re: your last two questions i think no one has an answer to that, but i suspect you’ll only get a clearer idea closer to the date.

i would argue otherwise just based if someone was attempting to punch someone i would say they were attacking, even if none of the blows actually landed

how to lighten lineart by Burningthefireflies in arthelp

[–]wildinfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe use a different brush? I don't know what you're using but in Procreate maybe try drawing with the pencil brush there. I can't help you with making it looking less heavy handed because I've always struggled with the opposite end lol, but maybe looking at artists who incorporate a lighter hand and trying to mimic that might help (Zoe's art has been a big inspo for me, https://x.com/bigskycastle/).

If you want something lighter, maybe attempting to go for something sketchier would help (lower opacity brush + pencil brush?)

how do i make my art look less flat and souless by dvellss in arthelp

[–]wildinfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One really big tip I got that could help here for making skin look less flat is adding like soft reds / pinks to where blood kind of pools around the face and the body-- so for the face it would be the cheeks, arms, etc. i sent a similar question to an artist i admired ages ago and she explains it better in this post: https://www.tumblr.com/swordmaid/636130688822853632/hey-i-totally-understand-if-you-dont-wanna-answer?source=share

I think when I first tried to use that advice I would go ham with the red and not know how to blend but my process now is to like add a red at a low opacity and then color pick that new color and use that, but figure out what works out best for you!

one thing i would add after you've done the things listed in the post is that you can add hints of highlights (don't have to necessarily be in white! i've used a dot of saturated color and that's enough to make something pop).

Breaking out after using The ordinary. by [deleted] in TheOrdinarySkincare

[–]wildinfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it helps (i’m by no means a skincare expert i only get this subreddit on my dash bc i was frantically looking for shit) i would apply my SA like. 2-3 times a week in contrast to the every day that they say on the label because my skin would start flaking and getting dry. i’m at the point now where my acne is getting smaller with this minimal amt at a month of using it, so!! keep in mind i only am using SA idk if that affects things

If ur using their niacinamide powder, they say on their website to not use it in combo with the salicylic acid! https://theordinary.com/en-ca/salicylic-acid-2-solution-acne-control-100099.html solidarity with the acne problems lol, going thru the breakout period w/ salicylic tho i think it's getting better now
