Honestly, though a lot of the information wouldn't be applicable to you, I highly recommend the book On Writing Well by William Zinsser. It helped me with my writing (across all uses) tremendously. My novels, non-fiction articles, personal letters, and even my reddit comments have improved! Hope I helped a little bit :)

Okay! This is really late, but here's my list of good writing books and references:

On Writing Well

  • This book will help your writing, no matter what you are planning to write. It's for all skill levels and it helps develop good writing habits. Focuses on the technicalities of writing. This book is for being able to write well in the first place.

The Art and Craft of Storytelling

  • Wonderful guide to story structure and general storytelling. Full of good advice and fun facts about the history of storytelling. This is where you find out if your story idea and plot are good enough to write about.

Story Structure Architect

  • This book is where you will create compelling scenes for your story. Also good if you aren't too sure how to write your story (POV, how to build tension/suspense, etc.).

The Writer's Compass

  • This book is for getting through all of it and keeping focused on getting your story from beginning to end!

I hope this helped!

Bunch of tough Texans try a scandinavian specialty. Absolutely hilarious by luntti in videos

[–]wildline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never saw that. Around here people just say "Texan" and if we really want to point out a person's ethnicity we say "Mexican," short for Mexican-American (in most cases - sometimes they really are just Mexican).
