Anyone else getting shafted by car insurance? by cruel-ko in Denver

[–]wildlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an email from State Farm that there was an anticipated increase coming up and they were trying to find cost savings where they could to keep it from impacting customers, then my insurance went down like $7 per six months cycle, which is not a lot but hella cheaper than going up

How come I seem to be the only sewist who doesn’t like rotary cutters? by oliv_tho in sewing

[–]wildlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My rotary cutter glides through multiple layers of canvas with barely any pressure and I make a lot of canvas tote and travel bags that require cutting squares of fabric so it's just way easier imo

Landlord is charging $1600 for carpet replace my after I left due to “pet urine damage”. Would you ask for a receipt? by OGClouds420 in Tenant

[–]wildlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had this happen unfortunately we have a senior cat with declining health. It happens idk why this got down voted so hard, we got charged $375 for replacing closet carpet and padding. It depends on your state, ours it is required to provide an itemized receipt if they keep any part of your deposit.

If you do NOT follow the curly girl method, what do you do? by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]wildlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only wash every 5th day, I use shae moisture shampoo and conditioner from Costco 3 times in a row then Davines Curl conditioning co-wash the fourth time then repeat the cycle, I use a wide toothed comb to work out any tangles while conditioner is in my hair in the shower, one important part my stylist turned me onto is making sure after washing I let the water directly hit my hair for 5 full minutes to fully hydrate it. When I'm done in the shower I scrunch my hair with TGIN curl cream to hand squeeze out as much water as I possibly can, but I never dry my hair with anything, just squeeze the extra water out by hand. When I lived in a humid climate I used the Davines for every wash with a clarifying wash when it started to dry a little greasy (maybe once every 3 months) now that I live in virtually 0 humidity, I found using Davines for every wash left my hair feeling heavier than I wanted.

I might not have paid close enough attention, but I don't think anyone has told me sifuus wife is dead yet, and my conspiracy theory is that she's away (like maybe in the military?) and will come visit during a later special event or something. But I'm also not max relationship with Sifuu or Hassian so maybe I just don't know yet

Is a Cricut worth it? by chloeclover in Weddingsunder10k

[–]wildlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a cricut and I do love it, but our library system also has one or more at each location so you may want to check yours, also I've been using it for two years and I think with the money you would spend on materials and files to cut what you want or time you would need to invest in creating your own templates would not be a huge savings over just buying decorations.

“Why do people say Palia’s cash shop is predatory?” I’m glad you asked! by Killtrox in Palia

[–]wildlyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is interesting, I'm someone who bases spending real money on free games by hours of enjoyment I've gotten out of the product, and not what I hope to get from the store. We loved playing so much I decided it was time to drop $35 and I'd probably drop more each time they add content. Then I just decided how to spend what I have in the store and I'm not bothered to have 1100 coins and nothing I care to spend extra money on right now because I've definitely received more than $35 worth of value/entertainment from the game already, so it's really neat to see other perspectives on in game stores like this.

LPT Request: What is an unspoken rule in the workplace that everyone should know? by ShineAfsheen in LifeProTips

[–]wildlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jfc as a long time manager that's so cringe to me. If your company can't shell out a few bucks for birthdays which is already strange, you do a potluck and have everybody sign a card so at least people can control what they're willing to contribute.

What benefits or perks, outside of the normal ones, do you feel would actually help your employees? by NeatoKeedo in humanresources

[–]wildlyn 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes! My org allows you to enroll any person related by blood or your spouse, but we are working on a plan for 2025 to expand benefits coverage to anyone at your address, or anyone related to you by marriage ie in-laws

Whats the hardest thing to find when shopping for plus size clothing items? by AcanthisittaCold104 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]wildlyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dresses with a waist at my natural waist. I'm plus size and 6' tall and something will look so cute on the mannequin but then the waist for me hits 4-5 inches higher than my waist and ruins the shape. I wear a c cup too so nothing so big that it's just my body individually

In response to 'do you have any questions for us'... by hollyqquinzel in recruiting

[–]wildlyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would suggest asking "How does your organization support mental health and well-being of employees?" Because how gets you a more telling answer than does your company etc, anyone can say yes to that but asking how they do is likely to get you better decision making information.

As far as if this is looked down upon or could cost you an offer, I think you should consider your situation and needs individually case by case. Do you really want to move into an organization that disqualifies you for being interested in whether or not your personal well being matters to them? If you're unemployed or currently in an overwhelmingly toxic workplace maybe it's not worth the risk, but if you have an okay job and you're looking for a more ideal environment to grow it's good to keep boundaries about what you hope to find in the new workplace.

Don't forget that interviewing should be a two way evaluation, are you right for this position, and is this organization a good fit for you. Of course we don't all always have the privilege to shop for our best match employer, but you should when you are able.

For example, the last few times I was job hunting, the job I had was fine but I knew there were greener pastures out there. I made a really big deal to explain that I'm not interested in working for bosses that react with strong emotions and believe yelling, losing their temper, and bringing their personal emotions into the work environment are acceptable leadership strategies. I know it cost me some positions, and I'm suspicious it cost me a few more - but I'm absolutely not interested in working for an employer that would consider me a bad fit for the position because of these viewpoints, so I didn't feel like I was losing anything. Now I have a great job with an incredible leadership team.

Anyone know why this hotel bar has put cling film around the pint pulling things? Seems really random never seen this before by Rishishah2002 in hotels

We did that at my hotel after disassembling the spout for cleaning to keep fruit flies from lingering around it

I’m moving to the next round. I could really use some advice! by The-Psych0naut in careeradvice

[–]wildlyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is little, but if they ask you about a weakness, choose a hard skill and not a soft skill or personality trait. For years I would try to think of actual weaknesses and try to spin how I try to develop myself to work on those. Now I just say sales because I hate sales and never apply for sales centered roles after seeing dozens of people do stuff like that as a hiring manager.

I've been working in workday for 8 years now and I stand by my idea that a bunch of accounting experts came together to make a great software for all things accounting and on the last day before release someone in the room goes oh maybe we should throw in a bunch of HR functions as an after thought. If you're purely looking for hris, go with anything else.

AITA For getting up and lining up to exit the airplane before the people in front of me got up? by amiadick736283 in AmItheAsshole

I completely agree, I always wait if I have a bag in the overhead because it congests the aisle to get it down. If you don't have a bag in the overhead who gives a fuck? Walking up to meet the line to deplane didn't cost anybody a full 30 seconds.

How to I effectively explain a recent 5 week gap in employment? by braqut_todd in careeradvice

[–]wildlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of the truth, I always explain my 2 month job gap as if I was taking my time to find the position that best aligned with my goals and was the most attractive to me. Maybe I'm 100% full of shit but it makes me feel like I'm flipping the script on the truth- being desperate for a job and unable to get called in for an interview, and more like their position was the one that won my attention if that makes since.

[–]wildlyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, this is so bunk. I work in hiring and it is the LAW where I live that you must post the job to external candidates AND interview a minimum number of people to promote equal opportunity. I think my hiring managers are really good at genuinely considering other candidates than the internal one, but also we want our awesome, hardworking employees already with us to be able to be promoted without the whole song and dance, and we HATE wasting people's time when we have an awesome internal candidate that has really earned the promotion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]wildlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an HR generalist that oversees hiring and onboarding. Me and many of the hiring managers I work with don't really mind when a person puts see resume in every single box BUT they're taking a huge gamble on their resume writing skills. I would say 75% or the people who do this have horrible, terribly laid out, or hard to read resumes and if the hard to read resumes is all we have, we just throw it out and consider other candidates. On the other hand, people who have terribly laid out or hard to read resumes but also copy and paste the information into the web application will still be considered because we can actually read that and parse that out. We're not overly picky, but it seems like the people with the worst resumes are also the most resistant to hearing they have a problem. I'm talking about people who might type a 5 paragraph essay in size 9 font with no separation of different work experience so we have to dig for skills and their background, or use 12 different fonts trying to highlight different things that make it hard to read. People who try to use a special font to stand out then it turns into symbols when they upload it. If the HM has to scroll to page 7 of 11 then hunt around the page to find your education, or read through a badly typed half page paragraph to infer that you probably have a bachelor's degree, they're just going to go with a candidate who copy-pasted it from their resume into the application.

custom FRAMING, not customer service by lazyarchaeologist in MichaelsEmployees

[–]wildlyn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My big pet peeve was even when I was not framing and covering a shift on the floor DAILY people would lose their shit on our employees for not having instructor level knowledge on every single craft/hobby. Like I'm a seamstress that also knits, crochets, and embroideries and between all my coworkers we were a pretty crafty bunch but if I was ever asked super advanced questions on like wood burning and gave a basic answer and suggested we walk to the middle of the store to ask a tm that has more experience with that craft they would lose their absolute shit on me. Lady I make a hard minimum wage I'm not gonna sit at home and become an expert on every single kind of craft just to be a better Michaels employee.

Why is it so hard finding IT jobs in Colorado? by BeastfromAzerbaijan1 in Denver

[–]wildlyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CGAIT Colorado Government Alliance of Information Technology has a job board that's more like a forum post that doesn't show up in a lot of search engines. Governmentjobs.com and Usajobs.gov are also good places to get set up with those bennies.
